1 Eighty-two receive National Board certification Eighty-two teachers in the NEWESD 101 region are in the new class of educators receiving National Board Certification, one of the most elite achievements in the teaching profession. The new class includes Amanda Miller, far right in photo, a teacher at Broadway Elementary in the Central Valley School District. She is pictured with Broadway Principal Lori Johnson at a February 25 reception honoring the new inductees. Jeff Halstead, left, a teacher at Ferris High School in Spokane, welcomed the new class. Halstead was one of the region s first nationally certified teachers, earning the honor in National certification consists of four components: a written assessment of content knowledge; reflection on student work samples; video and analysis of teaching practice; and documented impact and accomplishments as a teaching professional. The 82 teachers represent 12 districts of all sizes and settings Central Valley, Cheney, Colton, Deer Park, East Valley, Kettle Falls, Medical Lake, Ritzville, Selkirk, Spokane, Wellpinit and West Valley.
