12 SENIOR CLASSIFICATION Students must have earned a total of 19 credits to be classified as a senior at the beginning of the year. 4th year students are reclassified at the end of fall semester. Students in their fourth year

14 CREDIT RECOVERY OPTIONS Credit Recovery Exam - failing grade in course is between 60-69% Exams are given at AHS with Credit Recovery Teacher. Online Credit Recovery (Edgenuity) failing grade in course below 60%. May be enrolled in a credit recovery class during the school day. Work can be done after school/from home as well. Students will receive a credit recovery grade of P for passing and F for failing for any credit recovery online class or credit recovery test Or a student may re-enroll in a failed course to earn credit Edgenuity Online Credit Recovery is not an approved non-traditional course option with NCAA. Student athletes are encouraged to reenroll in any failed course.

15 STAAR EOC TESTING Students must take and pass English 1 English 2 Algebra 1 Biology US History to be eligible for graduation. If needed, retest dates are below: Retest Dates Monday, December 4-English 1 EOC Re-test Tuesday, December 5-Biology and USH EOC Re-test Wednesday, December 6-English 2 EOC Re-test Thursday, December 7-Algebra 1 EOC Re-test Make-ups will be scheduled Tuesday-Friday of that week.

26 APPLYING TO COLLEGE Apply Texas for in-state schools - applytexas.org ( Texas A&M, Univeristy of Houston, UT Austin) Common Application for out-of-state and private schools commonapp.org/ ( Rice, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian University) If your school is not on either of these networks- you will need to visit the school website for application instructions Open Enrollment Junior colleges, 2 year schools Holistic Review process During holistic review, we consider academic achievement, personal achievement, and special circumstances (UT Austin). Early Decision plans are binding a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college. Early Action plans are nonbinding students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1. Early applications look favorable and may be considered for scholarships

If we are able to access parent s through our new student database, we will add messages to the notification process. Students compete with fellow AHS/AISD seniors Local Scholarships are all electronic and will be completed online. January 19, Deadline to turn in Announcement of scholarship recipients will take place at the Senior Awards Night.
