6 DUAL GRADUATION STUDENTS 2018 Frequently Asked Questions from Molly Gleason When will I receive more information about graduation? We mail two letters to the potential graduates in the spring. One is in early April and it asks that you proof the information we have for you the spelling of your name, your program of study from which you will graduate, and the cumulative grade point average. The second letter will come a few weeks later and it will contain information about the day of the Commencement Ceremony. Is there a cost for my cap and gown? No, the cap, gown, tassel, and honor cords are provided to you at no cost. The exception to this is the PTK honor cords which must be purchased through the chapter. Where and when do I pick up my cap and gown? Your cap and gown will be available for pickup in the Counseling Office at North High School approximately one week prior to graduation. Watch the Facebook announcements posted on the North High School Accelerated Associate Degree group page. Name Cards are required for the ceremony and will be handed out during class time prior to the ceremony. Any student that was absent from class must fill out name card prior to receiving cap/gown from Counseling. Should I just hang the gown to get the wrinkles out? Gowns will be wrinkled. Make sure to place them on a hanger as soon as you get them home. DO NOT throw them in the dryer on high heat. They are not superior quality and could possibly melt. Caps are one size fits all. How many guests may I invite to the Commencement Ceremony? You may invite as many friends and family members as you wish to attend. What will I receive when I walk across the stage? You will receive a diploma cover with a piece of paper inside informing you that no diplomas will be awarded until all grades have been received and your records reviewed by the registrar. Diploma covers must be handed to Molly or returned to Mr. Shovlain the following day. Molly needs them to place your earned degree (the piece of paper) in the cover before high school graduation on June 3. What about photographs? Lifetouch will be taking candid pictures throughout the evening and photographs of each graduate as s/he walks across the stage. They will contact you via on your SCC.live.eicc account to inform when you view the proofs and place an order. How long does it take for my records to show I have graduated and appear on my transcript? We process all spring graduate files as soon as we are able beginning the Monday after the ceremony. The registrar reviews all potential graduate degree audits, and if the requirements are complete the graduate status is entered on the student record. Molly will be working with seniors to request a transcript to be held until Degree is Posted. When will I receive my certificate or diploma? At the North High School graduation on June 3. Will there be rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony? May 10 at 1:00 pm at the TaxSlayer Center (formerly the iwireless Center). It usually lasts about an hour, students should plan to be there no later than 12:45. Students will be told how to line up at rehearsal. Signage should be in place so that you will know where to go for check in and staging. Any questions you have regarding the ceremony, can/will be answered at rehearsal. North students were allowed to attend with prior approval from the high school.

7 Where will the Commencement Ceremony be held and at what time? The Commencement Ceremony will be held Monday, May 10, 2018 at the iwireless Center in Moline. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. What time should I arrive for the Commencement Ceremony and what happens prior to the ceremony? We ask that all graduates check in before 5:30 p.m. The doors will open for early arrivers at 4:00 p.m. When you arrive you will need to check in with us. You will receive your name card which has a number indicating your place in line. If you are eligible, you will pick up honors cords of any type at this time. Please have your cap and gown on and be in the proper order by 5:30 p.m. Will it be streamed live over the internet? Yes, it will. EICC is working with the iwireless Center to stream it live on the web site. It is the policy of the Davenport Community School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, creed, age (for employment), marital status (for programs), sexual orientation, gender identity and socioeconomic status (for programs) in its educational programs and it s employment practices.
