2 Per IHSA By-law 3.150: Participation by high school students in summer programs must be voluntary and in no way be an actual or implied prerequisite for membership on any high school team. All registration must be completed online at First time users will need to create an account. There will be NO mail-in, walk-in or over the phone registration. All registration is to be completed online at If you wish to pay in person, you must first register online and then follow the instructions for in-person payment below. Students participating in the Athletic Camps must have completed the online registration/waiver information in order to participate in the program. The camp offerings listed are tentative, contingent upon enrollment. A non-refundable $25 registration fee is included in the camp cost. Decisions to cancel a camp will be made the Thursday prior to the start of each camp. No refunds will be issued after a camp starts. Full refunds will only be issued for medical reasons. Our coaches encourage maximum participation in camps. Please do not register early just to hold a spot as we are unable to issue full refunds to those who decide not to attend at a later date. Students registered will receive and phone notification if a camp is cancelled due to low enrollment. Refunds will not be issued for any reason after a camp has started. Weather related cancellations will be posted on team websites. Make up dates for weather will be determined by the coaches of each camp. If you have questions regarding a specific camp, please contact the camp director. ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (IHSA) IHSA rules apply to all WTHS sponsored sports camps for high school students. Students are allowed a maximum of 25 contact days (per sport) with their high school coach/program. Summer baseball and softball have separate IHSA rules regarding the number of days for student participation. CAMP REGISTRATION Begins Monday March 10, 2014 On-Line Registration for Sports Camps at If you already have an account, login to register. If you do not have an account, create a new account to begin the registration process. All Registration is to be completed online prior to participation. There will NOT be mail-in or walk-in registration. Payment Online payment at the time of registration is the preferred method. Credit Card or electronic checks are accepted. If you wish to pay in person, you must FIRST register online then enter the alternate payment code camp and comment In-Person Pay. DO NOT ENTER PAYMENT INFORMATION IF YOU WISH TO PAY IN PERSON. Your registration will be pending payment which is due within 7 business days of registration. In person payment is to be made at the Almond campus fee office during normal business hours. 8 Basketball, Boys Warren Skill Academy* Basketball, Boys Youth Camp Basketball, Girls High School This camp is for the serious basketball player. The skill academy is designed to rapidly increase the overall offensive skills of each player. This will be done through high-level, high-intensity training in the areas of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Players will learn multiple two ball dribbling drills as well as a variety of high level combination dribbling moves. Also, players will have in-depth training on the proper way to shoot and they will also learn how to shoot off of a variety of screens as well as off the dribble. Players will also be taught a variety of footwork drills that will allow them to be better off the dribble and shooting on the move. This basketball camp will teach players high level basketball skills and teaching points, offensive and defensive concepts, and also involve tournament competition. This camp will continue to develop the complete basketball player as they prepare to play high school basketball. A practice format will be used to teach basic skills as well as offensive and defensive concepts used in the high school game. Participation in summer league play is included. 9 Basketball, Girls Incoming Freshmen Basketball, Girls Youth Camp Cross Country, Blue Devil Distance Camp (Girls)* This camp is meant for any girl who is interested in playing basketball in high school. This camp is a great way for the athlete to become acquainted with the expectations of playing high school basketball as well as the members of the high school basketball staff. This camp is not necessary to try out for the team, but is strongly encouraged. Team offense and defense will be taught as well as the skills necessary to play the game. As a part of the camp a freshman team is entered into the Lake Zurich Summer League so that what is learned in camp can be practiced in actual game competition. Campers are strongly encouraged to bring their own water bottles. This camp will teach the basic skills necessary to be successful playing the game of basketball. Drills and competitive games will be used to teach these skills and concepts. Campers are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. 10 Cross Country, Boys Summer Conditioning Cross Country, Girls Summer Conditioning This camp is designed to make sure the athletes are on track for the beginning of practice. Workouts will be assigned on an individual basis depending on the level of fitness. For those who have never run cross country before, it gives them a glimpse at what the season will be like. For any middle school runners it gives them chance to see what it will be like when they get to high school. This camp is for runners who are interested in building their endurance to prepare for the cross country season. Campers will learn about training techniques, philosophy, and strength work. 12 Soccer, Girls Summer League* Soccer, Girls Youth Camp Warren will be fielding two teams this summer. To register for placement on a team, sign up online under seasonal sports. Fees are not assessed until placed on a team. Warren Gold will be made up primarily of returning Varsity & JV players. Warren Blue will be made up of all other players interested in summer league. Summer League team placement will have no bearing on next spring s tryout. Uniforms will be provided, transportation will not. The fee covers league administrative fees and referees. More specific game information (dates/times) will be given out to participants once the game schedule has been set. 13 Softball, Hitting Softball, Youth Camp Tennis, Boys Tournament This camp is open to all incoming 9th- 12th grade students interested in advancing their offensive softball skills. Participants should bring all softball equipment and a water bottle with them. This camp is open to all incoming 3rd- 8th grade students interested in working on basic skills, techniques and fundamentals of softball. Tournament Camp should include all players that expect to try out for high school tennis along with younger players that are ready to compete at a tournament level. Players need to be ready to compete in drills and match play. Camp features 2 ½ hours of drill in the morning and 2 hours of match play in the evening. Drills are competitive and will include conditioning. The camp includes two ½ hour private lessons during the week of June 24 to June 27. Players with receive a camp shirt and other items. 14 Tennis, Co-Ed Beginner Camp This camp is for players, boys and girls, who are brand new or relatively new to the game of tennis. Children who have taken this class in the past but are not ready to for more advanced camps should also sign up for this class. This class will teach all of the basics strokes of beginner tennis. Common grades of players usually fall between incoming 1st graders up through 4th grade. Once the camp begins we usually further subdivide based on age and ability. The camp with will run by Coach DeSecki and other coaches/instructors. All campers will receive a t-shirt. It is perfectly fine for players who were in the camp last year to sign up for this camp again as they may not yet be ready to move on the more advanced camps. 15 Tennis, Girls F/S & Middle School Camp Tennis, Girls Varsity This girls camp is for all incoming freshman as well as returning sophomore players. Middle school female athletes in 7th and 8th grade (incoming) should also register for this camp. Some 6th graders who feel they are ready for more advanced play may also register for this camp whereas other 6th graders may opt for the Intermediate camp. Most players in this camp have some experience in tennis, but beginners who fall within the pre-mentioned grade ranges are certainly welcome to come out! We will review all basic fundamentals of tennis, rules, and basic match play. This camp will be run by Coach DeSecki and other coaches/instructors. 18 Volleyball, Girls Incoming 9th Grade Updated Dates! Weight Training for Her* Wrestling, High School This camp is designed to teach current 8th graders the basic skills needed to compete at the high school level. Fundamental footwork and skills will be taught as well as teamwork and strategies. This camp will be coached by current WTHS volleyball coaches and college players. Players should bring a reusable water bottle and knee pads. Dates have been adjusted since originally published. Updated 2/24/14. Conditioning program designed to enhance the physical conditioning of the female athlete, build strength, power, speed and agility. 9th-10th grades students will be taught fundamentals needed to begin a weight lifting program. 11th-12th grades students will continue on current lifting programs. Plyometrics and speed drills will be incorporated. Coached by Julie Filippo and college athletes. Players should bring a reusable water bottle and towel. This camp is designed for incoming freshman to seniors in high school. No prior experience in wrestling is necessary. This camp is very important in the development of the skills and techniques necessary to be a successful wrestler. Camp will consist of drilling, live wrestling, and team building activities.
