M-F ATHLETIC and PERFORM BETTER 1600 Division Road West Warwick, RI Dear Fellow Track & Field Fans, It is indeed an honor for M-F Athletic to again be a sponsor of the NJSIAA Track & Field Championships. The pride and excitement of the athletes and coaches who are participating is reflected in the support of the parents and fans who are being treated to some of the best high school track & field competition in the country. The efforts of the administrators, officials and volunteers who organize and supervise the competition are greatly appreciated. They go mostly unnoticed because of their professionalism and efforts to create a showcase and insure fair competition for interscholastic athletics. Some of the athletes you see competing here will become national, collegiate and possibly even Olympic champions. In fact, New Jersey has been represented at every summer Olympics at least since And, since 1960 M-F has been involved in the sport of track & field both as a supplier and supporter through our many educational programs. Our collective enthusiasm and love of the sport is what makes us all members of the track & field fraternity. Enjoy the meet! Sincerely, Jim Grogan Mid Atlantic Sales Jim.grogan@mfathletic.com

Mission Statement The NJSIAA, a private, voluntary Association serves its student-athletes, member schools and related professional organizations by the administration of education-based interscholastic athletics, which support academic achievement, good citizenship and fair and equitable opportunities. We believe that member schools, along with their leagues and conferences, share these convictions: A safe and healthy playing environment is essential to our mission. Participation in interscholastic athletics enhances the educational experience of all students. Interscholastic athletics is a privilege. Excellence in both academics and athletics is pursued by all. Interscholastic participation develops good citizenship and healthy lifestyles, fosters involvement of a diverse population and promotes positive school/community relations. Rules promote fair play and minimizes risks. Cooperation among members advances their individual and collective well-being. Training of administrators and coaches promotes the educational mission of the Interscholastic Experiences. Properly trained official/judges enhances interscholastic competition. The NJSIAA is the recognized state authority on interscholastic athletic programs. Support Unified Sports to offer opportunities for student with and without disabilities to train and compete alongside their peers in NJSIAA sanctioned activities. The NJSIAA is composed of 435 member high schools. It provides more than 284,000 student-athletes opportunities to participate in nearly 3,000 games, workshops, clinics and other NJSIAA-sponsored activities within a given year. The NJSIAA offers more championships for its student-athletes than any other state in the nation: For Boys: Cross-Country, Football, Soccer, Basketball, Bowling, Fencing, Ice Hockey, Swimming, Diving, Indoor Track Relay Championships, Indoor Track Individual Championships, Wrestling, Baseball, Golf, Lacrosse, Outdoor Track Championships, Tennis, and Volleyball. For Girls: Cross-Country, Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Bowling, Fencing, Swimming, Diving, Indoor Track Relay Championships, Indoor Track Individual Championships, Golf, Lacrosse, Softball, and Outdoor Track Championships. Competitive athletics is nothing more than playing according to a set of rules. Sports are the greatest example on earth of the practical application of the Golden Rule. Your support and encouragement of our high school sports program are earnestly invited.

Girls Preview Robert Kellert - State Editor NJ MileSplit nj.milesplit.com - Results, rankings, photos, race videos, and more. Girls 55 Meter Dash nj.milesplit.com It took a time of 6.99 for the now graduated Bria Mack to win last year at MOCs. Sydney Hawkins is the only girl on this performance list who has dipped under the 7.0 barrier before with her 2017 sophomore time of So far in 2018 Hawkins' best is a NJ# from this past Tuesday at Eastern States. The Phillipsburg junior Hawkins comes in as the strong favorite this time round, she was third in last year's MOCs final and won the Group 4 state title last weekend with a 7.15 final and 7.10 prelim. We were denied a showdown between her and Sterling's Aliya Harrison who clocked a 7.07 to break the Group 2 meet record in prelims before an unfortunate false start in the finals. Expect to see her do well in the 200m showcase. Dennisha Page of Woodrow Wilson who won Group 2 with a 7.20 is the second seed and could use another PR this week to have a chance at the title. Her best is a 7.16 NJ#4 time from Easterns this week, the junior has dropped a ridiculous amount of time off her 55 this season which started with a PR of If the cards fall right and untapped peak performance emerges could we see a freshman champ as well? Two are listed in the top four out of Groups, Lauren Princz of Egg Harbor Twp and Jailya Ash of Eastern Reg were second and third to Hawkins in Group 4 on Saturday. Princz is currently NJ#3 with a 7.09 to her name thanks to a huge PR at Eastern States for third. She was.06 behind Hawkins' second place 7.03 while competing head to head in that final. Girls 55 Meter Hurdles nj.milesplit.com Two athletes have really stepped up their game heading into the biggest in state meet of the year. That would be Atlantic City's Claudine Smith and Paramus Catholic's Isabelle Dely. Both juniors and both clocking in amazing personal bests at Eastern States this week running under 8.10 for the first time. Smith tied for NJ#1 winning Easterns with an 8.05, dropping.12 off her prior best. Dely was fifth in finals but ran a toasty 8.08 NJ#3 in the semis. These two girls have definitely made a case for themselves. But hold the phones, this is not a sure thing. Reanda Richards of West Essex will have a presence, she's a talented senior with a PR of Tionna Tobias of Winslow posted an 8.20 at Easterns while also winning the long jump. Grace O'Shea of Ramapo showed signs of PRs to come placing second at Easterns with an 8.19, her previous best an 8.30 at Groups. Should be a fun event with plenty of athletes looking to run their fastest times of the year on Saturday.

Girls 200 Meter Dash Showcase nj.milesplit.com The defending champion is back with Aliyah Taylor of Rancocas Valley ranked NJ#9 on the season at 25.73, she stated in her college commitment interview she could be going for that double gold at MOCs. She set the meet record of last year. There is definitely some tough competition in her way for the repeat though. Two time outdoor 200m Meet of Champions winner Shakira Dancy of Winslow is entered and she posted a NJ#1 at Easterns this week, she also owns the fastest time at the Bubble this season with her from SJTCA #4 back in January. With Aliya Harrison out of the 55 dash the talented Sterling senior will have her attention locked on the 200m, she's ran this season. Of course the top seed at the time entries closed Shanelle Colmon of East Brunswick deserves a mention here, she has only run the event once indoors and it was a solid in early February, possible untapped potential there. Girls 400 Meter Dash nj.milesplit.com Who will be the first 400m indoor Meet of Champions winner not named Sydney McLaughlin or Olivia Baker since 2010? Baker won the event from 2011 through 2014 and then McLaughlin 2015 through Well that question has become a whole lot more interesting with the emergence of Rumson-Fair Haven sophomore Lily Orr who led Groups weekend with her to win Group 2. As well as Kaira Brown of Kent Place School, who ran to win the Non-Public A title, ranked NJ#3 at this season. Brown was fifth last year at MOCs as a sophomore. Or for that matter Ajae Alvarez of Egg Harbor Twp, she broke 58 seconds for the first time on Tuesday to win Eastern States with a NJ#2 time of Talk about timely peaking. And we still have the preseason favorite Aliyah Taylor, who was second to only the Olympian Sydney McLaughlin last year as a junior and third at this meet her sophomore year. She has a NJ# to her name and the fastest time at the Bubble out of this bunch with her from Sectionals. Already getting crowded up front huh? Haven't even mentioned Flora Ahiarakwe of Winslow, or Pennsauken's freshman standout Jade Pope. Should be a great race, don't miss this one. Girls 800 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com Victoria Vanriele returns for her sophomore Meet of Champions appearance as the defending 800m champion. The top seed coming in from Groups by almost four seconds and with faster times to her name the Governor Livingston star won last year as a freshman and appears to be in solid shape for her next title. She broke Ajee' Wilson's venue record of 2:10.45 at Sectionals when she ran 2: That 2:10.45 from Wilson is still the Meet of Champions record and could go down this weekend if Vanriele goes for it. Athletes with plenty of experience Essence Baker of South Brunswick and Kaitlyn Van Baalen of Ridge are two great athletes ready to step up to the opportunity as well. And we have two or three freshman vying for medals with Kelsey Klein of Bernards, Ryan Davi of Pingry, and Amanda Mircovich of River Dell.

Girls1600 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com There are multiple girls in this race that have been producing top performances for seasons and it is hard to believe none have an individual Meet of Champions title. That will change after this weekend. Caroline O'Sullivan of Old Tappan the top seed coming in with her 4:55.94 NJ#1 from Group Championships. She is running really well right now and already won a head to head match-up last weekend with Madison Brand of Middletown South NJ#2 at 4: That Group 3 championship race was the first time O'Sullivan and Brand went under five minutes in the 1600m indoors. Brand was fourth at last years MOCs in this event. Juniors Ellie DiMarcello of North Hunterdon and Abby Loveys of Randolph are the top returning girls from last years race having placed second and third behind 2017 graduate Briana Gess of Haddonfield. Loveys has been running on a mission this state season, she won the Group 4 at 5:00.95 and doubled back to win the 3200m state title at 11: DiMarcello must have some extra motivation heading into MOCs as a top seed once again, as a sophomore in 2017 she was second at both the indoor indoor and outdoor meets by a combined time of just.01. She's had some strong performances this February leading into this meet. Shelby Piccinic, Devon Hoernlein, and a list of girls from there all within striking distance if the race goes their way. Girls 3200 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com Monica and Isabel Hebner of Northern Highlands have traded wins this state season as favorites heading in, junior Amanda Stone of Monmouth Regional has emerged as a strong contender. Corinne Barney, Emily Levonas, and Nicole Vanasse continue to show they are developing into elite runners. Abby Loveys has been doubling great times all month. Sophomore Nicole Vanasse of Pingry won the NPA title handily and was third at the cross country MOCs meet this past fall. Plenty of talent ranked for this race ready to make moves, the clear top seeds being the Hebner twins with US#7 and #8 10:40 times from Sectionals.

Girls High Jump nj.milesplit.com The nation's US#1 and US#5 ranked high jumpers, two sophomores, will be going head to head at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions this Saturday. Jenna Rogers of Rutherford has cleared 5-11 this season tied for second all-time in NJ indoor history and she holds the outdoor state record of which won her New Balance Nationals Outdoor in She has made it over 5-10 three times this indoor so far. Tierra Hooker of Timber Creek cleared 5-10 at the end of January and is fourth all-time in state indoor history. Both girls won their respective Group state titles last weekend. Will the meet record of by Tatiana Smolin back in 1984 be broken this Saturday? Last year's top returner for this meet Abrianna Barrett of Montgomery is among the seven seeded at 5-04 out of Group Championships weekend. Barrett was second last year at this meet clearing 5-06 and then went on to win the outdoor Meet of Champions the following spring. This year's state rankings have five girls at 5-06 after the 5-11 of Rogers and 5-10 of Hooker: Jade Pope, Kenady Wilson, Abrianna Barrett, Kaela Monte, and Kassidy Mulryne. Of those top seven in the state the only senior is Kassidy Mulryne... this is going to be a fun few years at the high jump mat. Girls Pole Vault nj.milesplit.com An event that was already leading up to be a good show keeps getting sweeter. Haley Horvath came into this season with an indoor PR of 10-00, she cleared NJ#3 to win NPA head to head with Pingry's NJ#5 Caroline Dannenbaum last weekend. Ashley Preston of Delsea Reg leads the state this season at After an off performance at Groups she bounced back to vault at Eastern States a few days later and appears to be ready for MOCs. Melissa Purcell of Pascack Valley had the second highest vault of Groups weekend at , she is NJ#2 this season with a major PR of at Bergen County Championships on the 14th. Francesca Porambo led New Jersey at Eastern States on Tuesday with a third place half foot indoor PR of That moved her up to NJ#3 this winter. Keep an eye on the meet record which is definitely in jeopardy this weekend. Girls Shot Put nj.milesplit.com On Tuesday at Eastern States Shelby Bigsby of Montclair became just the fourth girl to ever throw over 50 feet in New Jersey history. She improved her US#1 ranking with a mark of 50-02, continuing New Jersey's yearly national presence in the event. Ocean Twp's Emma Vasen ranked NJ#2 US#5 and A P Schalick's Zyra Thomas NJ#3 US#9 will have to bring their A-game if they look to upset Bigsby. Both have gone over 44 feet this season. But as we saw with national record holder Alyssa Wilson who didn't win this indoor title until she was a senior last year, this is not an easy championship to win and anything can happen.

Girls 4x400 Meter Relay nj.milesplit.com Union Catholic is looking to keep their three year winning streak alive ranked NJ#3 at 3:56.97 on the season they ran 3:59.01 last weekend to win the NPA Group championship. They'll have to go through a talented Winslow Twp squad to do it though, Winslow unleashed their top squad last week to run 3:57.36 to win Group 3 and they are NJ#1 this winter thanks to their 3:54.99 from the Millrose Games. Rumson-Fair Haven made a case for themselves winning Eastern States on Tuesday running 3:56.85 to crack the top 20 nationally and move up to NJ#2. Woodbridge, West Essex, Egg Harbor Twp, Ridge, and Ramapo all in the mix as well. Girls 4x800 Meter Relay Showcase nj.milesplit.com This one is always hard to preview going in with variables in the mix such as if certain athletes are concentrating on individual events, if a B-team is going to run. But Union Catholic is looking strong going in as the top seed and ranked NJ#1 this winter with a 9:13.90 from the Millrose Games. UC also has the fastest time at the Bubble this season with their 9:41.47 back at the State Relay Championships. Ridge is ranked second, they won the inaugural indoor 4x800m showcase last year. With a strong history in this event this school has won the outdoor 4x800m title at MOCs the past three seasons as well. They are NJ#2 at 9:16.56, having won Tuesday's Eastern States.

Boys Preview Robert Kellert - State Editor NJ MileSplit nj.milesplit.com - Results, rankings, photos, race videos, and more. Boys 55 Meter Dash nj.milesplit.com Mario Heslop. The Franklin Twp junior tied the 55m state record Tuesday night at Eastern States when he won the finals running He had the fastest time coming out of Group Champs weekend as well with his Group 4 victory at He could be Franklin Twp's first winner in this event since 1982 when Clark Waddell ran 6.5, and speaking of history the F.A.T. meet record of 6.38 is definitely in danger. Heslop was fourth at this meet as a freshman before missing the entire 2017 season his sophomore year. The rest of the field is led by Antonio Tarantino of Paul VI who has had a very successful senior season. He comes in with a PR of 6.45 that won him the Non-Public A title on Sunday. Gabriel Nash of Elizabeth also under 6.5 with his 6.49 for second last weekend in Group 4. Boys 55 Meter Hurdles nj.milesplit.com New Jersey enters this hurdle showdown with three ranked in the top five nationally and only.01 between those athletes in the rankings this season. East Orange Campus's Akeem Lindo ran 7.31 US#3 to win Group 4 on Saturday. Then at Easterns this past Tuesday Lindo's teammate Al-Tariq Dunson and West Side's Isaiah Greene had a photo finish for first and second running US#5 with both recorded at Dunson was given the win after going to the thousandth of a second. Note Lindo did not race at Easterns so he could still have major time to drop this weekend as well. The straight away will be crowded so get over there early for the final. Boys 200 Meter Dash Showcase nj.milesplit.com We already built up Franklin Twp junior Mario Heslop for the 55m dash and he is the focus once again during the 200m showcase, should he choose to run it. Freshly crowned state record holder Heslop shattered the previous state record of on Tuesday at Easterns when he ran a smoking time of 21.09! That is also 11th all-time nationally. The meet record of set in 2005 by Bryant McCombs of Old Bridge is definitely in jeopardy. Rahmir Johnson of Bergen Catholic and Isaiah Greene of West Side the closest to Heslop from this entered showcase field with seeds of

Boys 400 Meter Dash nj.milesplit.com Again Heslop leads the field for the third time in this preview, it'll be interesting to see which ones he will focus on or if all of them are in his sights. This race will be an absolute battle with plenty of big names available such as Akeem Lindo, Nadale Buntin, and Immyouri Etienne who already went head to head with Heslop during Group 4 Championships. Markus Bagley of St. Peter's Prep and Nick Parisi of Seton Hall Prep could drop more time with the extra speed in this race, they went to the line during NPA on Sunday. The meet record and Bubble venue record is a by Zyaire Clemes of Trenton Central in The fastest time on this track in 2018 is Heslop's last weekend. Boys 800 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com Drew Maher has taken state season by storm out of the Group 1 leading both the 800m, 1:55.86, and 1600m, 4:13.72, during Groups weekend. We'll have to see which event he looks to focus on come Sunday. While Drew Maher, if he runs this event, is the top dog going in things became more interesting after Eastern States on Tuesday. Dominic DiNardi of Hillsborough won Easterns with a huge PR of 1:55.20 for NJ#4 on the season, his previous indoor best was a 1:58.13 from Group 4 Championships on Saturday. Damien Dilcher is the second seed out of Groups, he showed strength to win the Group 3 title over third seed Atharv Kulkarni of West Windsor Plainsboro North on Friday 1:56.15 to 1: Luis Peralta of Passaic won the Group 4 title at 1:56.46 and Christian Brothers Academy's Tim McInerney looked very strong during his double win during Non-Public A, both could definitely shave some time off their bests to contend for the title as well. McNair Academic's junior Marcus Hardy gained some in race experience with Maher during Group 1 Champs last weekend when he placed second at 1:58.91, he has a 1:57.47 at the Bubble from Sectionals. Boys 1600 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com This could be a fun race to say the least. Drew Maher of Shore Regional is hitting pace at just the right time and is NJ#1 US#14 heading into the Meet of Champions thanks to his 4:13.72 last weekend. If there was any doubt to his shape right now he also split 4:11.82 on Shore's DMR team at Eastern States Championships on Tuesday. If he wins this weekend he would be Shore Regional's first indoor Meet of Champions winner. While Maher is looking very strong coming in the competition in this race is the real deal. We're going to assume Devin Hart is going to concentrate on the 3200m this weekend. That leaves Group 2 champ Chris Romero of Voorhees 4:16.57 ( should he choose the 1600m), Fahd Nasser of McNair Academic 4:17.89, Group 4 champ Francis Martingale of Memorial WNY 4:18.80, Derek Gess, Sameer Das, Will Hare, and the list of high end competitors just keeps on going.

Boys 3200 Meter Run nj.milesplit.com While Devin Hart doesn't have the top time from Groups weekend on this performance list he is definitely the favorite going in. The Pt. Pleasant Boro junior is the state leader with a US#9 time of 9:10.21 from Sectionals, and that was on a double back from a 4:16 time in the 1600m. It seems the rest of the race will be about who has what it takes to go with him, and even then you'll have to take on his kick at the end which you can watch in last week's double duel with Romero. That effort is led by top seeded Vedang Lad of West Windsor Plainsboro North and his teammate Matthew Santamaria who went 1-2 in the Group 3 title race at 9:20.57 and 9: If Chris Romero chooses this race over the 1600m he is of course a major contender as well after matching Hart almost step for step last weekend. Sameer Das of West Windsor Plainsboro South was crowned champion of the Group 4 title race and depending on if he chooses this race or the 1600m, which he also advanced him, he could make some noise here. Colin Logsdon of Chatham, Jack Jennings of Mendham, Fahd Nasser of McNair Academic all strong 3200m runners that will toe the line on Sunday as well. Boys High Jump nj.milesplit.com Three boys in this field have gone over 6-07 or above this season and that would include: Mark Anselmi of Middletown South and Jadon Watson of J F Kennedy Paterson at 6-08 as well as Chibundu Nwanonyiri of Franklin Twp over With that said the only two to clear 6-06 over Groups weekend was Davensky Joinvilmar of Asbury Park and Soham Kolli of Randolph. Keep an eye over at that high jump pit, with the heightened competition and close field this could lead to some great jumping and exciting PRs ahead. Boys Pole Vault nj.milesplit.com This is building up to be an awesome showdown and a showcase for New Jersey's return in the pole vault event. Four guys are now over the bar this season and they will all square off on Sunday for the state Meet of Champions title. That includes the defending champion Seth Kricheff of Old Tappan who won last year's title with a vault. This season he was the first to clear 15 feet indoors for New Jersey since 2014 and it seems he broke the seal as a few of his peers followed suit. He and teammate Tyler Hrbek lead us out of Groups weekend at 15-00, could one team go 1-2 in the vault at MOCs? Simon Schenk of Princeton and David Bausmith of Hunterdon Central have also gone over 15 this season. Schenk is a sophomore, the only one out of those four that isn't a senior. Liam Landau of Pascack Hills, Conor Reilly of Union Catholic, Nico Morales of Delsea all looking for PRs this weekend in order to contend for the title.

Boys Shot Put nj.milesplit.com C.J. Licata of Gill St. Bernard's is the #1 thrower out of Groups weekend with his to win NPB. He's already thrown this season which ranks him NJ#1 US#5, six straight meets now that he's gone over 60 feet. Kamron Kobolak of Cinnaminson and Joshua Lezin of Lakewood the only others to break 60 in 2019 ranking NJ#2 and #3. It'll take a great throw but also in contention for this title or to at least medal well is Brandon Patterson of Union Catholic, Bill Goldsborough of Delsea, Dan Mead of CBA, Asim Greene of River Dell. Patterson seemingly had an off week placing third at Group Champs with a 52-03, but he was right back to tossing 57s at Eastern States Championships where he won on Tuesday. Boys 4x400 Meter Relay nj.milesplit.com East Orange Campus looks to defending their title, in 2017 their squad not only won the meet but also took ownership of the meet record with their impressive time of 3: East Orange is currently US#1 this season with a best time of 3:16.60 from the Dr. Sander Invitational in late January. Union Catholic, CBA, Pennsauken, Rahway, Matawan, and more will look to hold their own and potentially upset in the ever exciting 4x400m event. Boys 4x800 Meter Relay Showcase nj.milesplit.com Hopewell Valley and Rancocas Valley both had the top seeds entered at the deadline with their sub-8 minute performances from earlier in the season. Hopewell ran 7:58.39 at the Lavino Relays still NJ#4 this season, they are the defending champions from last years MOCs. Rancocas valley improved their time to a 7:57.11 placing third at Eastern States and own the fastest Bubble time this winter with their state relay championship run of 8:06.82 in January. North Hunterdon's boys made it more interesting with their 7:57.11 NJ#2 performance for second at Eastern States this week. When seeds were frozen they had a time of 8:17.98 which will force them to try and go for the win out of the slower first heat.
