2 DIGITAL PORTFOLIO ACCESS AND CLASSROOM SETUP Initial Lgin fr AP Cmputer Science Principles Teachers Teachers will autmatically access the AP Digital Prtfli based n their status within the Curse Audit prcess. In rder t access the Digital Prtfli directly: Yu must submit the initial curse audit materials (curse audit frm and syllabus), and Yur schl s Curse Audit Administratr must apprve the curse audit frm. G t and lg in using yur Cllege Bard Prfessinal Accunt username and passwrd. Yu will be redirected t the Digital Prtfli, where yu will start by setting up classes fr the current academic year. Initial Lgin fr Nn-CSP Teachers If yu are an AP Crdinatr wh supprts CSP students in a nn-traditinal setting (e.g., Independent Studiers, hmeschlers), yu will need t enter an Access Cde in rder t access the Digital Prtfli. Cmplete the frm at t receive a cde and instructins fr lgging in. Set up Yur AP Cmputer Science Principles Classes When yu click n Set Up Classes frm the Digital Prtfli, yu will be sent t the Manage Classes and Rsters page. Page 1

3 Frm the Manage Classes and Rsters page, select Cmputer Science Principles frm the Curse drpdwn bx. Enter in the name f the class that yu wuld like t add. Select the prgramming language(s) that yu will be using in yur class and click the + sign. Yu can add multiple languages. Page 2

4 Click Add Class. Cnfirm that the class added shws up in the My Classes view. Add additinal classes as needed. If yu have students in yur curse that primarily attend a different schl (e.g., ther lcal schl, nline schl, hme schl), yu can prvide them with a Jin Cde. The Jin Cde will allw students t enrll int yur classrm directly, regardless f what schl they attend. The Jin Cde will be visible in the My Classes sectin belw the class. Page 3

5 Yu can return t the Digital Prtfli hme page by clicking n Hme in the tp navigatin menu. Add r Mdify Classes If yu need t add r mdify classes after yu have initially set up ne r mre classes, click n the Class Setup link lcated in the tp menu bar. Yu will be sent back t the Manage Classes and Rster page where yu can edit, add, r delete classes. Navigate Between Multiple Classes If yu teach multiple AP Cmputer Science Principles classes yu can quickly navigate between them using the My Classes link in the tp menu. Page 4

6 Navigate Thrugh the AP Digital Prtfli Yu can navigate thrugh each class by using the left hand navigatin bar. Click n Class Summary, Create r Explre t expand the sub-menus. Click n the sub-menu items t g t that page. Page 5

7 STUDENT ENROLLMENT Instruct Students t Enrll in Yur Classes Direct students t digitalprtfli.cllegebard.rg and have them lg in using their Cllege Bard student accunt and passwrd. Students may have an existing accunt if they tk an AP Capstne r AP with WE Service curse in a prir year, viewed AP scres, r registered fr SAT nline. Students can create a new accunt r request a passwrd reset if needed. Students wh are new t the AP Digital Prtfli may be prmpted t prvide additinal infrmatin. Students will be prmpted t add a class by clicking the Add Classes buttn. Page 6

8 Students will be redirected t the Manage My Classes page and see a cmplete list f AP Cmputer Science Principles classes being ffered at their schl. They shuld request enrllment in the apprpriate AP Cmputer Science Principles class. Upn clicking Enrll the student will see that enrllment has been requested. Students will nt be able t access the Digital Prtfli cntent until yu have cnfirmed their enrllment. Students Enrlling frm a Different Schl If yu have students in yur curse that primarily attend a different schl (e.g., ther lcal schl, nline schl, hme schl), they enrll with a Jin Cde. 9 Students will be prmpted t add a class by clicking the Add Classes buttn. Students will be redirected t the Manage My Classes page. Frm there, they can click n the Enrll with Jin Cde buttn at the tp right f the page. Students shuld enter the Jin Cde yu have prvided them and click the Submit buttn. Page 8

10 Students shuld then cnfirm that the Jin Cde is fr the crrect sectin and click the Submit buttn again. Upn clicking Submit the student will see that enrllment has been requested. Students will nt be able t access the Digital Prtfli cntent until yu have cnfirmed their enrllment. Page 9

11 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Team Teaching Setting up C-Teachers Team teaching allws mre than ne teacher at a schl t manage a class and cnfirm student enrllments. T add a c-teacher, click n the Class Setup link lcated in the tp menu bar. Yu will be sent back t the Manage Classes and Rster page. Click n the Add C-teacher link fr the apprpriate class. Select the teacher frm the available list and click the Add buttn. C-teachers must be assciated with the schl in their accunt settings and must have entered a Digital Prtfli Access Cde in rder t be successfully added as a c-teacher. Page 10

12 The c-teachers will be listed n the Class Rster page in the Digital Prtfli. The Primary Teacher is the teacher wh created the class. The Primary Teacher can drp the c-teachers frm the Class Rster page. Cnfirm Student Enrllment Requests Click n the Class Rster link t view students wh have requested enrllment in yur class. Cnfirm r drp students wh have requested enrllment in yur sectins. Once yu cnfirm a student, they will be able t access the digital prtfli. If yu drp a student, they will be able t request enrllment in a different sectin. Page 11

13 COURSE ACTIVITIES Uplad Supprting Materials Teachers can uplad supprting materials, either web links r files, t the Perfrmance Tasks. The fllwing file types can be upladed as supprting materials: DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, PDF, MOV, WMV, MP4, AVI, and ZIP. The fllwing are recmmendatins fr resurces t be prvided t students n the AP Digital Prtfli: Resurces t assist students with self-mnitring their prgress and cmpleting the perfrmance tasks (including but nt limited t schedules, timelines, and general guiding questins). In accrdance t the teacher guidelines in the AP CSP Curse and Exam Descriptin, teachers many nt prvide research, articles, and / r evidence fr students during administratin f the perfrmance tasks. Navigate t a Perfrmance Task Cmpnent fr which yu wuld like t add supprting materials and click Add and fllw the instructins. After uplading the materials, the supprting material will be visible t yu and yur students. Dwnlad and View Student Wrk Navigate t the Perfrmance Task Cmpnent fr which yu d like t review student wrk and click n View Details next t any student. Page 12

14 Yu can view a draft submissin by clicking the Dwnlad Latest buttn r clicking n the file name in the Activity Feed. Instruct Students t Use AP CSP Written Respnse Templates It is highly recmmended that students use the Written Respnse Template fr bth perfrmance tasks as it will facilitate accurate scring f their wrk. Create - Applicatins frm Ideas Perfrmance Tasks: This template was develped t help ensure students prvide a respnse t all the requirements in the Create Perfrmance Task in an rganized and prperly labeled manner. The template fr this task shuld be used fr sectins 2a, 2b, 2c, and 2d. Explre Impact f Cmputing Innvatins Perfrmance Task: This template was develped t help ensure students prvide a respnse t all the requirements in the Explre Perfrmance Task in an rganized and prperly labeled manner. The template fr this task shuld be used fr sectins 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e. T access the Written Respnse templates, students shuld g t the Written Respnses page fr the Perfrmance Task they are wrking n. 15 FINAL SUBMISSION REVIEW Yu can review student wrk frm the Prgress page, which can be fund by expanding the Class Summary menu. The Prgress View is the area f the Digital Prtfli that yu will use t: View status f student submissins Review student submissins Reprt suspected student plagiarism r exam vilatins t the Cllege Bard View whether r nt students intend t take the end-f-curse exam View status f AP Number entries Students must submit final versins f the fllwing perfrmance tasks cmpnents. Explre Cmputatinal Artifact (CA) Written Respnses (WR) Create Individual Vide (IV) Written Repnses (IWR) Prgram Cde (PC) Reviewing Student Wrk Yu can review the wrk that students have submitted as final frm the Prgress View. Students wh have submitted their wrk as final are indicated by a black checkmark n the Prgress View. Please nte: Fr the schl year, student wrk submitted as final was indicated by a green circle. Fr the schl year and ging frward, a black checkmark will dente wrk submitted as final. Page 14

16 Click n the submissin t view the student artifact. Yu will be sent t the review screen. Student submissins that are in PDF frmat (e.g., Written Respnses and Prgram Cde) will be viewable within the Review Screen. Yu can dwnlad Nn-PDF artifacts (e.g., Cmputatinal Artifact, Individual Vide) fr review by clicking the View/Print Submissin buttn in the upper-right hand crner. Page 15

17 Returning Files t Students In sme instances, yu may need t return a student s submitted wrk t them. 18 Select the reasn yu are returning the file t the student and click the Return File buttn. If yu have returned a file t a student, make sure t persnally fllw-up with them t have them first uplad a new/crrect versin f the dcument and then submit as final again. Reprting Suspected Student Plagiarism r Exam Vilatin t the Cllege Bard If yu believe that a student submissin vilates the AP Cmputer Science Principles plicy n plagiarism r has vilated the perfrmance task guidelines, yu shuld ntify the Cllege Bard, fllwing the steps belw. The reasns t reprt a student are: One r mre pieces f infrmatin r evidence taken frm the wrk f smene else are included in the submitted wrk and have n citatin/attributin AND n reference listed in the bibligraphy. The submitted wrk was created by smene ther than this student. Student fails t acknwledge the surce r authr f any and all infrmatin abut existing prgramming cde. Student fails t acknwledge anther creatr s wrk that they have used t create their cmputatinal artifact. Student cllabrated during the Explre perfrmance task. Student cllabrated during the creatin f the Vide r Written Respnses f the Create perfrmance task. Student submitted wrk frm a practice perfrmance task. 21 Prvide the evidence f plagiarism r the exam vilatin. Yu must prvide a detailed ratinale as t why yu suspect the student s wrk is plagiarized r vilated the perfrmance task guidelines. Yu als have the ptin t prvide an additinal file f evidence. If desired, yu can delete a reprted case f plagiarism r vilatin up until the curse end date n April 30. Yu can delete the reprt frm the Teacher View Final Submissin Screen. Please nte: In rder t ensure yu can meet the April 30 deadline, please set internal deadlines with students t allw enugh time t review student wrk within the deadline. Page 20

22 Mnitring Intent t take End-f-Curse Exam and AP Number Entries via the Prgress View Imprtant: In rder fr student submissins in the Digital Prtfli t be scred, the student must submit their wrk as final, indicate that they are taking the AP end-f-curse exam, and enter their AP Number. Additinal infrmatin can be fund in the Ensuring Student Submissins Will Be Scred sectin. Starting in December, the Prgress view will reflect whether r nt a student has indicated their intent t take the end-f-curse exam. Then starting in April, it will als reflect whether r nt the student has entered their AP Numbers. If yu teach blck curses in the fall semester, please be sure t fllw up with yur students t ensure they enter their AP Numbers when they receive them in April. T mnitr yur students, navigate t the Prgress view. The Name / Status clumn will reflect the student s intent t take the end-f-curse exam and AP number entry status. 1. Students that are in red with N Selectin have nt indicated their intent t take the exam and have nt entered their AP numbers. Wrk submitted as final by these students will NOT be sent t Cllege Bard fr scring unless exam intent and AP Numbers are entered. 2. Students that are in range with Needs AP # have indicated they intend t take the exam but have nt entered their AP numbers. Wrk submitted as final by these students will NOT be sent t Cllege Bard fr scring unless AP Numbers are entered. 3. Students that are in gray with Nt Taking Exam have indicated that they d nt intend t take the exam. Wrk submitted as final by these students will NOT be sent t Cllege Bard fr scring unless students change their exam intent and enter their AP Numbers. 4. Students that are in white and have an AP number belw their names have indicated they intend t take the exam and have entered their AP numbers. All wrk submitted as final by these students will be sent t Cllege Bard fr scring. Page 21

23 ENSURING STUDENT SUBMISSIONS WILL BE SCORED Imprtant: In rder fr student submissins in the Digital Prtfli t be scred, the student must submit their wrk as final, indicate that they are taking the AP end-f-curse exam, and enter their AP Number. Instructing Students t Indicate their Intent t Take the AP End-f-Curse Exam Starting in December, students will be prmpted in the Digital Prtfli t indicate whether r nt they intend t take the end-f-curse exam. Students must prvide a respnse by April 30. Students can indicate their intent-t-take exam questin by navigating t the Overview page. Once they indicate their intent, they are able t edit their decisin by clicking n the pencil icn. This prcess des nt take the place f AP Exam rdering. An rder fr the end-f-curse exam must still be placed as part f the AP Exam rdering prcess. Please wrk with yur AP Crdinatr t ensure that there is alignment between student indicatrs fr end-f-curse exam and exams rdered. Page 22

24 Instructing Students t Enter Their AP Numbers int the Digital Prtfli Students wh are taking the end-f-curse exam will receive AP Student Packs in early April. Each Student Pack cntains a unique AP number that students shuld use fr all AP exams that they take in a given schl year. Students can enter in their AP number by lgging in t the AP Digital Prtfli and navigating t the Overview page starting n April 1. Students must enter an AP number int the Digital Prtfli in rder fr their wrk t be sent t the Cllege Bard. All perfrmance assessment tasks that a student has submitted as final will autmatically be sent t the Cllege Bard n April 30, as lng as an AP number is assciated with the Digital Prtfli accunt. Students shuld take extra care when entering in their AP number. AP numbers that are incrrectly entered may result in delayed scre reprting. Students shuld never use an AP number frm a prir year and students shuld never share their AP number with anther student. Once an AP number has been entered, it can be changed t a different number if the existing number is fund t be incrrect. The existing AP number cannt be remved withut being replaced by a different, valid, AP number. Instructing Students t Indicate Permissin t Reuse Written Perfrmance Materials Students als have the pprtunity t indicate whether they prvide the Cllege Bard permissin t reuse their wrk fr educatinal research and instructinal purpses. This des nt impact the student scre. This permissin nly cvers items submitted via the Digital Prtfli. AP students must indicate permissin t reuse during the AP end-f-curse exam as well. Students can indicate their permissin by lgging in t the AP Digital Prtfli and navigating t the Overview page. Page 23
