1 Wednesday, 1/24 Testing Schedule Spring 2018 Date Test Impact English Benchmark No flex classes English 2 will be testing 11 th released after meeting with counselors 12 th released after CPR training All day testing All staff members will administer tests or serve in a supporting role Box lunches If possible, do not be absent! Weeks of 2/5 & 2/12 TBD Feb/Mar TSIA Juniors TELPAS Writing Samples 11 th graders (who have not previously tested) Regular bell schedule flex classes meet If students finish the first week, they will not need to test the second week. All ELL students must produce writing samples to be submitted to Ana Mercado February 26 or 26 and March 5 or 6 TELPAS Reading Listen/Speak STAAR Alt 2 Regular bell schedule flex classes meet Writing samples collected by all teachers TELPAS will be administered by selected staff Window 4/2-4/20 Regular bell schedule SE teachers will administer the tests Tuesday, 4/10 STAAR English 1 Only students who need to retest Regular bell schedule flex classes meet Selected staff members will administer STAAR tests Thursday, 4/12 STAAR English 2 No classes will meet, including no flex classes. Everyone reports to advisory at 8:45am All day testing for English II students (mostly 10 th ) and retesters Non-testing students will be dismissed after advisory (11 th & 12 th ) All staff members will administer tests or serve in a supporting role Scores due back by June 1, 2018 If possible, do not be absent!

3 2018 High School Elective Fair 8th-11th Grades Welcome DPHS South Campus Teachers and representatives from elective courses, clubs, and organizations will be set up in the mall area to provide information to you and your student. Counselors will also be present to answer any questions you may have regarding course selection and graduation plans. Thursday, January 25th DPHS South Campus in the Mall Area 6-8pm Student/Parent sessions: 8th grade: 6-7pm BJH/DPJH 9th grade: 6:15-6:45pm 7-8pm DWJH/FJH 6:45-7:15pm 7:15-7:45pm When not in meeting students will view electives in mall. 8th grade meetings in PAC/9th grade meetings in Teaching Theater.

16 DEER PARK HIGH SCHOOL GRADE POLICY BY NINE WEEKS REGULAR Major Grades 60% No more than 60% of the nine weeks average. Includes tests, projects, research, etc. Minimum of 3 major grades. No doubling of major grades. Minor Grades 40% At least 40% of the nine weeks average. Includes homework (20% maximum), daily work, quizzes, etc. PAP/AP 70% No more than 70% of the nine weeks average. Includes tests, projects, research, etc. Minimum of 3 major grades. No doubling of major grades. 30% At least 30% of the nine weeks average. Includes homework (20% maximum), daily work, quizzes, etc. A progress report will be issued every three weeks. A teacher will record at least five grades per three weeks, with a minimum total of fifteen grades per nine weeks. Two major grades must be recorded in the first six weeks of each grading period. 1 st /3 rd Nine Weeks 40% 2 nd /4 th Nine Weeks 40% Semester Exam 20%
