3 MISSION STATEMENT TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT FOCUSED ON PRIDE, UNITY, AND VICTORY WHERE STUDENT ATHLETES DEMONSTRATE A STRONG SOCIAL CONSCIENCE

4 To use a continuous improvement process in support of systems and programs that promotes high standards of performance and high expectations for learning on and off the playing field. To develop a culture of accountability that relies on data, research, evaluation, best practices and assessment as tools to measure the effectiveness and productivity of our programs and the satisfaction of our stakeholders. To develop, encourage, and support the athletic department staff, their programs, improve instructional standards and professional development to enhance the student athletes knowledge, skills and performance levels in efforts to achieve a high level of success. To promote and encourage Beachwood Pride, Unity, Victory and a Strong Social Conscience among our student athletes, staff and community members. To maintain open and effective communication with the public, the athletic department staff and students in order to be aware of attitudes, opinions and ideas. To continue to integrate best practices and advanced technique into all phases of the athletic educational process. To provide the necessary financial resources for the support of our instructional programs through prudent management and fiscal responsibility. To ensure that students and staff have a safe and appropriate place to learn, work and play.

6 The following must be completed prior to a HS or MS coach obtaining Board approval: 1) Online Application/Interview 2) BCI/FBI Background Check/Reference Checks 3) NHSF First Aid for Coaches Course (Three Year Certification) 4) 5) NHSF Fundamentals of Coaching Course (One Time Class) Adult CPR Certificate (Two or Three Year Certification) 6) * Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit (Three Year Certification) Volunteer Coaches adhere to the same process The following must be completed prior to a Head Coach coaching in their first official practice: 1) Pre season Process and Procedure & Goal Meeting with Athletic Director 2) Rosters, eligibility forms and medical forms for each athlete submitted to Athletic Department 3) OHSAA Mandatory Rules Interpretation Meeting 4) Mandatory Parent/Player/Coach Meeting Prior to the season being declared completed the Head Coach must complete the following: 1) 2) End of Season Evaluation with Athletic Director and MS Coordinator (MS coaches only) End of Season Report (post season honors/stats/results etc.) 3) 4) Turn in all uniforms and equipment Banquet/Team Gathering

36 COMMUNITY SWIMMERS: AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE There are an average of 8 swimmers each morning, 10 for the lunch swim, and 6 evening swimming. Saturday and Sunday mornings average approx. 20 swimmers. Competitors: JCC, Urban Active, Lifetime Fitness, Boot Camps/Yoga, Bally s etc. POTENTIAL REASON FOR INCOME LOSS Loss of SELREC to YMCA $45,000 revenue (2009/2010) (Missed their Rec Guide/Program Director hired after deadline) Salaries/Payroll Additional Hours for Community Swimming 2010/2011 (first half 2010) Late getting started Director hired in August
