1 MINUTES EXECUTIVE SESSION REGULAR MEETING EXECUTIVE SESSION OF THE BOARD EASTERN GREENE SCHOOLS February 8, :30 pm Vol No. 131 An Executive Session of the board will be held at 6:30 pm. The Regular Meeting of the Board will begin at 7:30 pm. An Executive Session will follow the regular meeting if necessary. All meetings will be held in the Central Office Boardroom. 3 AGENDA AND MINUTES RECOMMENDATIONS ADOPTION OF AGENDA It is recommended that the agenda for the February 8, 2016 meeting be approved as presented with additions, corrections, or deletions as recommended by the Board APPROVAL OF MINUTES It is recommended that the minutes from the January 11, 2016 Board meeting be approved as presented APPROVAL OF CLAIMS It is recommended that the claims, numbers 6308 through 6416 be approved as presented.

4 GUEST SPEAKER Alex Ferguson, JAG PARTICIPATION AT SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS The Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express concerns regarding agenda items. To permit fair and orderly public expression, the Board will provide a period for public comments at regular public meetings of the Board on meeting agenda items only. The presiding officer of each Board meeting at which public participation is permitted shall administer the procedures of the Board for its conduct. Comments will be limited to Board meeting agenda items with a time limit of 3-5 minutes. The presiding officer shall be guided by the following rules: A. Public participation shall only be allowed during the time of public comments on the agenda. B. Participants must be recognized by the presiding officer and must preface their comments by an announcement of their name, address, group affiliation and which agenda item they wish to address. C. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually. D. The presiding officer shall: a. Interrupt, warn or terminate a person s statement when the statement is a complaint against any employee, or is too lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene, or irrelevant. b. Request any individual to leave the meeting when that person does not observe reasonable decorum; c. Request the assistance of law enforcement officers in the removal of a disorderly person when that persons conduct interferes with the orderly progress of the meeting; d. Call for a recess or an adjournment to another time when the lack of public decorum so interferes with the orderly conduct of the meeting as to warrant such action; Waive these rules with the approval of the Board when necessary for the protection of privacy, rights of any Board member or employee, or the administration of the Board s business. E. A Board meeting is a meeting in public, not a public meeting.

5 RESIGNATION High School Motion to approve the resignation of Ryan Wilcoxen as High School Athletic Director effective January 30, TRANSFER High School Motion to transfer Joey Paridaen from Middle School Social Studies teaching position to High School Athletic Director effective immediately with he and Jon Neill splitting the AD stipend. EMPLOYMENT Middle School Motion to approve the recommendation to hire Nathan Martindale for the Middle School Social Studies position effective upon his release from Washington Community Schools.

8 CORPORATION High School Litigation Motion to approve the recommendation by counsel to hire Terry Sorg as cocounsel for pending high school litigation High School Litigation Motion to acquire a revised proposal from Wyss-Janney forensic engineers, to serve as expert witnesses in pending high school litigation. BP Security Motion to approve lodging for 4 ISP Troopers at SRO training in New Castle for $ For 5 Against 0 Abstain 1

9 Elementary/Middle School Motion to approve renovation of Middle School Gym and installation of Elementary Gym sound systems DISCUSSION ITEMS Sharon Abts We are busy getting ready for ISTEP trying to make it fun for the kids. We are also still finishing school improvement plans. Dennis Massengill We also are busy getting ready for ISEP. We have been busy finalizing teacher evaluations. We are looking forward to the Valentines Day dance on Wednesday after school. Doug Lewis Making preparations to include the Sophomores in Math, Language Arts, and Biology for ISTEP this year. Also getting ready for the AP mock exams. Looking forward to the basketball throwback game this Thursday. I wanted to congratulate the girls basketball team for a strong finish and a good season. Ted Baechtold Just wanted to say that our Corporation grade from the Department of Education has been released and we received an A ADJOURNMENT It is recommended that the meeting be adjourned at 8:16 p.m. BP
