CCBC coaches, academic advisors, faculty and staff provide the support and guidance students need to achieve both their athletic and academic goals. Each year, CCBC student-athletes average approximately 75 academic honors. CCBC competes as one of 504 members of the National Junior College Athletic Association* (NJCAA) and is a charter member of the Maryland Junior College (Maryland JUCO) Athletic Conference. * NJCAA eligibility rules can be complicated. It is recommended that all high school and college transcripts be provided early in the recruitment and eligibility certification processes. Since 1958, the Community College of Baltimore County has been home to a comprehensive intercollegiate athletic program, where coaches and support staff are committed to helping student-athletes develop their athletic and academic skills, and providing an outstanding atmosphere and opportunity for personal growth. CCBC STUDENT-ATHLETES HAVE EARNED: EXPLORE PROGRAM, SCHOLARSHIP AND TRANSFER OPTIONS CCBC offers more than 200 associate degree and certificate programs the most of any college in the region. Our head coaches and admission team lead our recruitment efforts, and are always excited to speak with prospective student-athletes. CCBC awards partial athletic scholarships to approximately 40 percent of its student-athletes. CHECK OUT OUR TOP-NOTCH FACILITIES CCBC has a sizeable, high-quality inventory of athletic venues, including three multi-purpose indoor arenas, two state-of-the-art artificial turf fields for lacrosse and soccer, five combined fully-equipped baseball and softball fields, and five supplemental outdoor practice fields. Weight training facilities are available at each campus with dedicated time for student-athletes. 18 NJCAA national titles NJCAA tournament appearances NJCAA Region XX crowns 370 NJCAA All-American honors 146 Maryland JUCO championships Scholarships are awarded based on athletic skill at the discretion of the head coach, according to NJCAA and institutional guidelines. Available roster spots vary by team. Prospective student-athletes are encouraged to contact their campus and sport of interest. Many CCBC student-athletes transfer to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, as well as the NAIA. Highly skilled student-athletes have transferred to the elite levels of NCAA Division I, and numerous CCBC student-athletes have been drafted into the professional ranks in baseball, soccer and lacrosse.

At CCBC, I learned to have an open line of communication with the professors, she said. With manageable class sizes, professors are better able to engage with students. I felt very comfortable asking for help when needed. Madison was also able to sharpen her skills on the field, earning both academic and athletic scholarships to Division I After graduating high school, Malachy did not play basketball for nearly a year. Then a friend a CCBC student-athlete convinced him to come to a practice. He was hooked almost immediately. After graduating from CCBC with an Associate of Applied Science degree, Malachy attended NCAA Division I Alcorn State University on a full athletic scholarship. CCBC gave me the opportunity to go to school and play basketball close to home, he said. It was a great way to see Before heading to a four-year institution after high school, Erin wanted to improve her academics and become a better athlete. She choose CCBC, knowing she would get the knowledge and attention she needed in the classroom, and be able to play for a nationally ranked softball team. CCBC was the building block, Erin said. It helped me mature as an athlete because the one-on-one attention allowed me to develop, and the rigor of the classes at CCBC definitely prepared me for the next level. Butler University and be a member of its inaugural women s lacrosse team. Madison graduated from CCBC with an Associate of Arts degree. CCBC provided a great opportunity to play at the college level without committing to a four-year school right away, she said. CCBC gave me the opportunity to go to school and play basketball close to home what college is all about, save money, and better prepare for a four-year university or college. Malachy said his coaches at CCBC prepared him to compete at the Division I level by playing a competitive schedule against nationally ranked NJCAA schools. But education was still the top priority. Academics are just as important if not more so to the coaches at CCBC, Malachy recalled. We were expected to put in minutes in the classroom and study hall before minutes on the court. It helped me mature as an athlete because the one-on-one attention allowed me to develop, and the rigor of the classes at CCBC definitely prepared me for the next level. Erin graduated CCBC with an Associate of Arts degree and transferred to the University of Maryland on a partial athletic scholarship, where she earned All-BIG10 honors as a senior. She graduated from Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Criminology, and currently works part time for the University of Maryland Police department. Erin is also a softball coach, and is taking classes in cybersecurity. I matured academically and athletically at CCBC, she said. I became a better student and softball player.
