3 MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Summary of District, State, and National Results for the SAT Reasoning Test Graduating Class of 2013 On September 26, 2013, the College Board released the District, state, and national results from students in the 2013 graduating class who chose to participate in the SAT Reasoning Test and/or the SAT Subject Tests. Information is summarized for seniors who took the SAT Reasoning Test at least once through June of their senior year. If a student took the test more than once, the most recent score is used. It is worth noting that historically the data have included students who took the SAT through March of their senior year. However, the College Board observed a trend in which more students are taking the SAT for the first time later in their senior year. Therefore, beginning in 2011, the reported data include students who took the SAT through June of their senior year. The SAT is designed to assess many of the verbal, mathematics, and writing skills that are important to a student s success in college. The SAT is reported in scales which range from 200 to 800 for each section of the test. The SAT mean scores for the Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing tests are presented in Table 1 for the District, state, and nation in 2011, 2012, and Individual school SAT results are presented in Table 2 for 2012 and School summary scores are not presented if fewer than 25 students participated; however, the data for these schools are included in the District and state results.
