2 What is Cambridge/AICE? An international, pre-university program developed by the University of Cambridge in England Examinations have been offered for over 50 years in more than 160 countries and 12,000 schools (including 89 HS in Florida) AICE first offered in the US in 1995, and officially adopted in Florida in 2001

3 Fast Facts Estero High School became an official Centre in August 2010 and our first class graduated in % of the c/o 2016 Cambridge students received the AICE Diploma Last year over 850 exams were passed for college credit (over 2550 college credit hours)

4 Outstanding Learners Four students achieved the highest score in the United States. One student had the highest score on two different exams. In 2016, 30 students earned Cambridge s Outstanding Learner award for achieving high marks on at least 3 exams in one series. The average GPA for Cambridge Seniors is 4.85

6 CAMBRIDGE ADVANTAGES Flexible path to an AICE diploma Students achieving the AICE diploma, along with 100 hours of community service, earn the top level of the Bright Futures Scholarship to any Florida University Successfully completing the Cambridge Curriculum could provide up to 45 hours of college credit and even more with Dual Enrollment

7 High School Diploma Equivalent The only diploma programs which fulfill a State high school diploma option are those offered by Cambridge and International Baccalaureate.

8 AICE and Dual Enrollment Estero has a Dual Enrollment agreement with both FGCU and FSW. If a student is on track to earn their AICE diploma, they may begin taking dual enrollment classes as early as their Junior year.

9 THE AICE DIPLOMA To receive the AICE diploma, students must pass 7 Cambridge Examinations. At least one examination must come from each of the following subject groups, along with Global Perspectives: Group A: Mathematics and Sciences Group B: Languages Group C: Arts and Humanities

17 Requirements for Admission Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 or above Grade 7 FSA ELA Level 3 or above Grade 7 FSA Math Level 3 or above * Level 3 students will require additional criteria Written response to essay prompt Copy of semester one report card Copy of Student Assignment zone application receipt Application is due by February 17th

18 Out of State or Private School Candidate Requirements Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher State or Norm Referenced test results must meet percentile rank equitable to Level 3 *Level 3 equivalents require additional criteria Written Response to essay prompt End of year report cards from grades 6 through 8, and semester one report card from 8 th grade Copy of Student Assignment zone application receipt Application is due by February 19 th

19 Application Procedures 1. Complete a student assignment application with the Lee County School Assignment office 2. Complete the Cambridge application and essay and return to Estero High School, along with your Student Assignment Receipt and latest report card, between January 23rd and February 17 th If all requirements are met and your child is accepted, you will receive a written notification mailed on March 10 th and an on March 10 th. 4. Any student accepted into the AICE Cambridge program will not be officially assigned to Estero until an intent form is completed and returned to Estero High School by March 20 th.

No further contact from Student Assignment will be received. March 10 Postmark prior to March 20

21 FAQs. Is there a cap on the number of students accepted to the Academy No Can my child also be enrolled in one of the other academies at Estero High School? Yes. Is there time for students to participate in clubs, sports, community service while in the Academy? Yes. Time management is the key.
