If a district provides all K-12 grades throughout their territory, all children within the territory are relevant to that district. If an elementary and secondary district occupy the same territory, the child is relevant to the district that provides the grade for that child's age. Beginning with the estimates for 2005, data from the American Community Survey were used in the estimation procedure; all prior years used data from the Annual Social and Economic Supplements of the Current Survey. There is uncertainty associated with all estimates in this program. Where possible, we quantify this uncertainty through confidence intervals (please see a basic explanation of confidence intervals). Comparisons between SAIPE estimates (based on ACS data) and SAIPE estimates for previous years (based on CPS ASEC data) are not advised because there is a break in the time-series due to the switch from CPS ASEC to ACS data. In future years, comparisons at the state-level estimates will be possible. 13 Estimated and Number of Children Age 5 to 17 in Poverty for Iowa School s: 2008 Estimated Estimated 5-17 Estimated number of relevant children 5 to 17 years old in poverty who are related to the householder 1 1 Each child is considered relevant to one and only one district.
