1 Pursuant to A.R.S , notice is hereby given to the members of the Governing Board of the Blue Ridge Unified School District #32 and to the general public that the Board will hold a Regular Meeting on Tuesday,, at 5:00 PM in the District Conference/Board Room located at 1200 West White Mountain Boulevard, Lakeside, Arizona. The Board reserves the right to change the order of the items on the agenda with the exception of public hearings and bid awards. The Board may go into executive sessions for purposes of obtaining legal advice from the Board s attorney on any of the following agenda items pursuant to A.R.S (A)(3). The agenda for the meeting is as follows. 1. Opening Ceremony Pledge of Allegiance 2. Recognition of the employees retiring from the Blue Ridge Unified School District school year Superintendent recommends the Governing Board recognize the employees retiring and not returning from the Blue Ridge Unified School District in school year Mr. Wright to introduce: Mary Carter, SPED/English Teacher-26 years of service Cheryl Cagle, English Teacher-20 years of service Cathie Steele, Title Aide-18 years of service Cathleen Burson, 6th Grade Teacher-16 years of service Joe Cotellesse. Recognition of the BR Star Awards for May 2017 Superintendent recommends the Governing Board recognize the following BR Star Awards for May Mr. Wright to introduce: Ms. Robin Sweeney, Speech Pathologist Mr. Kevin Woolridge, Junior High Math Teacher Mr. Tim Rhoton, Community Member. 4. Clay Stidham Jr. to be awarded the Champion for Young Children Award Kate Dobler-Allen, Regional Director for the Navajo/Apache Region, will be presenting Clay Stidham, Jr. with the Champion for Young Children Award. Each year the First Things First Navajo/Apache Regional Partnership Council chooses one outstanding community member who goes above and beyond to build public awareness of the important of early childhood. 5. Recognition of a donation to the Blue Ridge Senior barbecue and graduation practice Superintendent recommends the Governing Board recognize Coca-Cola for their donation in the amount of $ to the Blue Ridge Senior barbecue and graduation practice. Recognition of a donation to the Blue Ridge High School Varsity Baseball Program Superintendent recommends the Governing Board recognize a donation from Si Gimbel to the Blue Ridge High School Varsity Baseball Program. ATV with attached container, trailer with pull, craftsman wrench and socket set, craftsman compressor, 2-20 foot electrical cords, 15 foot rubber air hose for compressor and REI first aid kit, total $1, Consent Agenda Minutes Minutes of Regular Governing Board meeting held on May 9, 2017, for the Board approval or correction Vouchers and Reports Prior to Approval at each Governing Board meeting, Governing Board members may review vouchers. Terri Hegmann, Secretary, Junior High School Recommendation to approve the wage notice renewal for additional classified staff, school year Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve the wage notice renewal for additional staff, school year : Denice Hall Krista Lombardo Recommendation to approve Out of State travel request National Conference Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve the Out of State travel request for Jane Estes, Teacher and Denise Green, Teacher to attend the DIBELS national conference, July 9-14, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hotel Accommodations to be paid by Title 1, employees will drive their own vehicles and on their own for food. Clay Stidham available for questions. Christi Vizzerra, Teacher plus 15 teachers who are members of the K-6 School wide Transition team will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for a national conference on staff development for educators, July 9-14, Working on a house for the group, funding will be provided for groceries. Business Presentation by Southwest Food Service (Stephanie Joyner) Recommendation to review and approve the increase of meal prices for the school year Superintendent recommends the Governing Board review and approve the increase of meal prices for the school year to reflect: Blue Ridge Elementary K-6 $2.75 Blue Ridge Junior High $3.00 Blue Ridge High School $3.00. Daniel Aguilera available for questions Recommendation to approve the increase of Award #1 for Software License Management Deployment Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve the increase of award #1 for Software License Management Deployment in the amount of $15, for renewal of existing computer maintenance contracts, deployment of additional computers/servers and additional 3-year software license support as required Recommendation to approve Intercom & Surveillance Equipment and Cabling Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve Intercom & Surveillance Equipment and Cabling from various vendors and Cooperative Contracts. VISP Group will provide the intercom and surveillance equipment for a district-wide project in the amount of $203, Aspen Technologies will be used to support cabling for the new Junior High School in the amount of $159, These funds will be provided through the existing bond Recommendation to approve an increase for the Blue Ridge High School Track Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve the increase pricing amount of $69, for the Blue Ridge High School Track to General Acrylics. Cost is the result of removal of the additional 2 inches of pavement Contracted Related Service Providers for the school year Superintendent recommends the Governing Board review and possibly approve the following therapists who provide related services to students qualifying for Special Education Services: Cheryl Byrd, Mountain Kidz Physical Therapy LLC. 6 Denise Scorse-Huish, Speech Language Pathologist Recommendation to approve the Memorandum of Understanding for the Fab Lab Superintendent recommends the Governing Board approve the Memorandum of Understanding between The Arizona Board of Regents, University of Arizona and Blue Ridge School District #32 for a Fab Lab. Mr. Wright will be available for questions. The University of Arizona has committed $89, in donations in support of this project Brenda Thomas-Martinez, Director of Finance and Business Operations Report Auxiliary Operations, Tax Credit and Student Activities Operating Statement and Cash Flow Statements Superintendent's Report Update on Bond projects and consolidation. 9. Call to the Public The Public is invited to make comments to, or requests of, the Governing Board regarding items that are not listed at this time elsewhere on the Agenda. Those wishing to address the Board are asked to submit a Request to Address the Governing Board form, available from the secretary to the Governing Board. Members of the Board may not discuss items that are not on the agenda. Therefore, action taken as a result of the public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter or scheduling the matter for further consideration and decision at a later date. The Operating Rules of the Public are as follows: Individual time limit is three minutes per person and time cannot be seeded to another individual. 10. Announcements The Board will be provided calendar items with respect to future meeting dates and other information concerning the Governing Board. Special Governing Board meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 5pm. 11. Executive Session to discuss two student matters pursuant to A.R.S (F), student discipline. 12. Adjournment The Governing Board members have been provided with background material in advance of the Governing Board meeting. Members of the public body which met in executive session. 2. Officers, appointees or employees who were the subject of discussion or consideration pursuant to A.R.S (A)(1). 3. The auditor general on a request made in connection with an audit authorized as provided by law. 4. A county attorney or the attorney general when investigating alleged violations of the Arizona Open Meeting Law. A.R.S (A) provides for a fine of up to $ against a person who violates the Open Meeting Law or who knowingly assists another to do so. The Attorney may appear telephonically.
