1 STEVENS HIGH SCHOOL ONLINE REGISTRATION INFORMATION 12 th GRADE (CLASS OF 2017) Registration process for 12th grade: GRADE LEVEL CLASSIFICATION FRESHMAN SOPHOMORE JUNIOR SENIOR credits credits credits 16 and above 1 Course listing books can be found at the Rapid City Area School website: Under the heading of Parents & Students o Click on Parent/Student Home o Click on Handbooks & Registration o Click on Registration Books and then click on High School If you do not have access to a computer, please contact Marcia in the Guidance Office for a course listing book. 1. Online registration instructions are included with your username/passwords. If you did not receive these materials, please see Marcia in the Guidance Office 2. The following are required courses for 12 th grade. Students complete course requests with classes to meet graduation and to be prepared for post high endeavors. Literature class and composition class or AP Literature & Composition US Government or AP Government 3. Registration will begin on February 1 and run through February 10. The staff at Stevens High School recommends that students consider career interests and scholarship to make course choices. 4. The student s typical academic performance and participation in extracurricular activities should be considered when determining class load. 5. Students need to make sure that they meet the minimum graduation of 22 credits by reviewing their transcript and credit check. Students will also need to update a complete personal learning plan before graduation. 6. All students must be able to read at the 9 th grade level to meet graduation. Students will be enrolled in a reading class based on the results of the district-mandated reading test until they pass the test at or above the 9 th grade level. 7. Drop/Add Policy: Students will not be allowed to remove any course selections after February 10, Staffing is based on students course selections; therefore, dropping a class will only be allowed in rare and unique circumstances. South Dakota High School Activity Association policy is as follows: To be eligible for extracurricular activities, a student has to have passed four classes in the previous semester, and he or she also has to be currently enrolled in four classes and meet all district as listed in the student handbook under Extra/Co-Curricular Student Activities Guidelines.

2 2 It is the student s responsibility to meet all for graduation, post-secondary plans, and scholarships are being met. Students must register each year for courses required to meet high school graduation and post high school career and study goals. Counselors, teachers and principals are available to help students in their decisions. SDMyLife.com is a student resource for academic and career planning. ALL students must complete a Personal Learning Plan of 22 credits on SDMylife to meet graduation. This program helps students develop a four year high school plan that meets their career and education goals. Stevens 9 th and 10 th graders are provided this opportunity in class, and it is the responsibility for 12 th and new students to complete and revise this process before graduation. According to South Dakota Codified Law , any student in grades nine (9), ten (10), eleven (11), or twelve (12) may apply to a postsecondary institution (college, technical school) as a special dual enrolled student if he/she has not yet met graduation. For information on Dual Enrollment Board of Regents Reduced Tuition Classes or Dual Enrollment Free Western Dakota Tech classes please see your school counselor. For test out information you can refer to the district website at sometime in April. Under the heading of Parent & Students, click on Parent/Student Home then click on Test Out Program for more information. Online classes need to be taken through the state website: Classes are fee based and need to be pre-approved by your guidance counselor and administrator. Forms are available in the guidance office. It s the student s responsibility to check with NCAA (NCAA.org) or NAIA (NAIA.org) for eligibility if you are planning to participate in college athletics.
