5 Automotive Service Technology Our program is fully certified by the National Automobile Technicians Education Foundation Our students train to work as: Auto Lube Technicians Auto Brake System Technicians Auto Suspension and Steering Technicians Auto Engine Performance Technicians

6 Automotive Repair Technology Entry Requirement: This academy is open to any high school student in the district. There is no GPA requirement to apply. The Automotive Club meets Wednesday afternoons Juniors and Seniors help with the Annual Auto Show There are field trips and guest speakers with automotive post-secondary schools and businesses

7 Automotive Service Technology Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Curriculum Equipment skills, safety regulations, routine inspections, and maintenance of automobiles Operation and servicing of automotive brake systems Operation and servicing of suspension and steering Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical components related to power train & battery systems and diagnosing and troubleshooting engine performance, computerized engine controls and ignition systems

9 Automotive Collision and Refinishing Entry Requirement: This academy is open to any high school student in the district. There is no GPA requirement to apply. Beginning students learn safety and welding Students learn techniques in repairing auto body and painting

10 Automotive Collision and Refinishing Program Overview: Year 1: Equipment skills and safety regulations within the automotive industry; prepare vehicles for repair and refinishing Year 2: Repairing outer body panels and welding safety Year 3: Selecting and applying appropriate painting and finishes Year 4: Developing vehicle and industry knowledge and business management while continuing to develop skills in repair, welding, painting, and finishes.

11 Automotive Collision and Refinishing Automotive body repairers typically do the following: Review damage reports, prepare cost estimates, and plan work Inspect cars for structural damage Remove damaged body parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, grills, and trim Realign car frames and chassis to repair structural damage Hammer out or patch dents, dimples, and other minor body damage Fit, attach, and weld replacement parts into place Sand, buff, and prime refurbished and repaired surfaces Apply new finish to restored body parts

16 Medical Science This program is designed to prepare high school students for employment or advanced training in the health occupations industry. Juniors and seniors go on clinical experiences to places such as: MD Now Bethesda East Hospital Pet Calls Private doctor s offices and other locations

17 Medical Science Course Sequence (Medical Classes are Honors Credits) 9 th grade: Health Science Anatomy and Physiology 10 th grade: Health Science Foundations 11 th & 12 th Grade: (Choose an area of interest) Nursing Assistant with Allied Health First Responder Medical Lab Assisting Directed Study (Forensics) Additional Electives: Medical Dual Enrollment

21 Multimedia Communications This program is NOT a part of Choice DO NOT MARK IT AS A CHOICE ON YOUR APPLICATION! Any student who attends Park Vista may enroll by taking Digital Information Technology course.

22 Multimedia Communications Only students zoned for Park Vista or are admitted through one of the Choice Academies may join No application needed: All students take Digital Information Technology as the first course. Can be done at FLVS.com or here on our campus. It is a full year course. Then they choose a program area which includes: Digital Design Web Development Multimedia Design E-Commerce/Entrepreneurship

26 National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Honor Society recognized at graduation Requirements: Open to juniors and seniors in the third year of a CTE program Maintain a 3.5 in all CTE courses Maintain a 3.0 in all other courses Be a member of: HOSA or Auto Club

27 Choice Program Transportation Students who live outside the Choice Transportation Zone may attend the Choice Program if they provide their own transportation to and from the: 1) school or 2) nearest school bus pick-up location within the transportation zone

28 Choice Program Transportation Currently our transportation zone extends from Clint Moore Rd., to Lake Worth Road, Ocean Blvd. in the East to State Road 7 in the West. To see current bus stops click on Find my Bus on the school district website

29 Applying to a Choice Program Complete Choice Program Application at: Application deadline is January 26, (If you have Dreyfoos School of the Arts or Boynton Beach Arts as any part of your application than your deadline is December 1, 2017) Online applications may be changed ONE time before the January 26 th deadline. The district will notify everyone mid-march, by from the District, of your placement. You can also log-on to your application dashboard at that time. I will also follow up with a welcome letter and required documents to be signed.

30 A few Additional Notes If your home school has the same program as ours you must apply to that school first and we can be your second choice. This mostly affects medical. 31 Requirements to Remain in a Program Students Must Maintain: 3.0 Average in Academy classes 2.0 GPA overall No attendance or discipline issues If students fail to meet this minimum standard they will be placed on probation and possibly removed from the Academy. If they are in a Choice program they will have to return to their home school.
