1 Wildcat Nation, Here is the Lawrence North athletics weekly update for the week of May 1, Lawrence North Athletics Community Partner of the Week Olive Garden Italian Kitchen A big thank you to the Olive Garden in Castleton for sponsoring the coaches appreciation luncheon on Friday. Our coaches spend and incredible amount of time with our student-athletes and this was a great way to show our coaches we truly appreciate everything they do for our kids on a daily basis. The Olive Garden has been the sponsor for the coaches appreciation luncheon both semesters this year. We encourage you to stop in and say hi to the good folks at the Castleton location. 2 Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week Nathan Stone, Track & Field Carolyn Bakx, Track & Field This week we have two super sophomore pole vaulters for our LN student-athletes of the week. At the Pike meet, Nathan Stone broke his PR by a foot, jumping 15 0 and coming within 1 3 of the LN school record. He was the only freshman to make the state meet last year. This season, he is the only sophomore ranked in the top 25, currently ranked 8 th in the state! Fellow sophomore and pole vaulter Carolyn Bakx broke the LN school record at the HSE meet, jumping She broke an 18-year old record previously held by Erin Dwenger, who vaulted 10 5 back in Way to go, Carolyn!

3 Baseball: It was a tough week for the Wildcats (9-8, 4-4 MIC), as they lost both games against #1 Carmel and also took a loss to #3 Cathedral. Max Wills went 2-2 in game one of Carmel series and Garrett Burhenn went 2-3 against Cathedral. The team looks to bounce back this week with two games against conference foe Pike before starting the Marion County tournament on Friday against Franklin Central.

4 Golf: The LN golf team participated in the Marion County tournament, finishing 9 th overall. Senior Tanner Higgins was low man for the Wildcats, shooting an 89. The team also played Hamilton Southeastern and Mt. Vernon, losing both matches. The Cats look to get back in the fairway this week with a match against Westfield and then the North Central Invitational on Saturday.

5 Softball: The Wildcats (5-7, 3-1 MIC) went 1-1 last week, losing to Carmel 7-2 and then beating Heritage Christian, 8-6. In the Carmel game, Taylor Erschen went 3-3 with two doubles, and Raniah Rogers hit a home run! During the Heritage Christian game, the Cats were down 2-0, 4-1, and 6-4 in the 6 th inning before Taylor Erschen (4-4, 3 RBI) hit a 2 run, 2-out home run to tie it. The Cats put up two more runs in the bottom of the 6 th to make it 8-6 and the defense held in the 7 th to close it out. Maddie Howe, McDelawit Mueller, and Bailey Hogan all had two hits, and Grace Zielinski went 3-4. Leah Richards got the pitching win. The team will play three games this week, including a home MIC game against Pike on Tuesday, before the county tournament on Friday.

6 Tennis: The netters went 1-1 last week, losing to Center Grove and defeating Warren Central. The Cats have two good matches this week against Heritage Christian and Hamilton Southeastern before the MIC championships at the end of the week. Good luck, ladies!

7 Girls Track & Field: The LN girls track team lost a close dual meet to HSE, Winners for the Wildcats included the 4 x 100 relay, the 4 x 400 relay, Kennedy Barlow in the 400, Grace Dean in the 3200, and Princess Carter in the discus. Sophomore Carolyn Bakx set a new school record in the pole vault, jumping 10 6 to eclipse the old record of 10 5 set back in The MIC Championships were rained out on Friday night and are now rescheduled for this Tuesday night at Warren Central. The team will finish the week at the Pike Invitational on Friday and then the freshman county meet on Saturday.

8 Boys Track & Field: The boys team beat Pike in a dual meet, Nathan Stone led the team with a huge vault of 15 0, a whole foot over his previous PR! Other outstanding performances were turned in by Tyler Majors in the shot put, Derin McCulley in the high jump, Josh Mays in the discus, Will Reid in the 800m run, Dwight King in the 300m hurdles, and Ben Grese a double winner in the 1600 & The MIC Championships were rained out on Friday night and are now rescheduled for this Tuesday night at Warren Central.
