3 At DISV we o have been using ManageBac since August 2012 o for calendar/deadlines, messages, attendance, setting/grading assignments, reporting, exam entries, CAS o and PYP and MYP curriculum documentation

4 Life before ManageBac o Staff briefing every morning. o Each teacher kept records of attendance and grades in a mark book. o Reports were Word documents, with little evidence for the grades awarded, written 3 weeks in advance, printed and collated by hand o and then we had to share the MYP criteria for every subject with parents.

Dear Rachel, As I was reviewing attendance on Managebac Monday evening, I noticed that attendance was not entered for the following class on Monday, January 19: IB DP Theory of Knowledge (Grade 11) Accurate attendance records in Managebac are very important. Attendance must be entered for each class that meets on a particular day by the end of the school day. Please enter the attendance for the class indicated. Thank you!

21 I know who submitted the work and when. ManageBac gremlins don't eat homework, so there are no excuses and I can't loose their homework either.

22 Gradebook Encourage teachers to give students feedback on work before they post the grades (otherwise students just look at the grade). ManageBac converts the raw score into a grade on the 1-7 scale

23 ManageBac calculates the average grade using the grade boundaries entered for that class. It also calculates the student's semester grade, using the weightings you enter for the class.

24 Submit term grades But all assignments are not equal; Some assignments are more challenging; some are conducted in class; some at home; students get more help with some and the grade boundaries for the essay and presentation are different. Teachers can override the grade suggested by ManageBac. ManageBac are writing an update to allow us to enter different grade boundaries for each category.

28 Generate preview I use the generate preview function to view a report with individual students/ parents just before the reports are issued. You can re-issue an individual report if there is a mistake.

29 Issue reports We don't print reports; parents only receive them electronically. It takes 10 minutes to issue the reports for a year group (40/50 students) The deadline for teachers to enter grades is only a few days before the report is issued.

42 ManageBac as a teacher I don't need a mark book. It is easy to communicate with my students. I have evidence for the grades students are awarded. I can see a photo of all the students I teach. I can find parents' e- mail addresses easily.

43 ManageBac as an administrator I can see data on student attendance and achievement, and share it with students and parents instantly. I can hold teachers accountable. Events and deadlines are communicated clearly. Information on ManageBac (e.g. spelling of names, subjects students take) is most likely to be correct.
