Shooting differs from other sports because size, speed and sex do not determine success Shooting is a true lifelong sport Improves academic performance Teaches competitors a variety of life skills and lessons

5 Primary Program Objectives Develop a Sustainable Self-Funded Youth Scholastic Shooting Sports Program in each State. Work with State Conferences to gain Varsity Sport Status for all Shooting Sports Disciplines. Teach decision making, teamwork, self discipline, self confidence, and problem solving skills; Promote the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior; Encourage an appreciation and understanding of natural resources; Develop leadership abilities & character with the willingness to assume citizenship responsibility; Furnish safe, enjoyable, positive relationships with peers and caring adult instructors; Strengthen families through participation in lifelong recreational activities; Develop an Athlete Grass Roots Olympic Path Pipeline for those who aspire to that calling.

SSSF Operational Statement The SSSF is responsible for administering the National SCTP & SPP Programs and guaranteeing the growth and development of the National Program. In addition, SSSF is committed to helping the State Programs solve issues and problems that may arise from time to time.

14 Team Structure and Organization Set up a Parent Board Meeting; Meet and set By-Laws or parameters for how the team will be managed. Open bank Account Set next meeting date and time with students with committed team. Register Team online. Sign all forms and collect fees Organize safety meeting and training for Head Coaches

15 President: Student Board of Governance duties Work with Head Coach and or teacher sponsor to coordinate with students to develop team Ensure announcements are made at school or on website Organize with VP all fund raisers and service projects Organize to ensure pictures, competition results and press releases are sent out to press, newspapers, radio, yearbook etc. Vice-President: Assist President in ALL DUTIES Assist in travel plans with travel committee, Pres. And VP Secretary: Coordinate all sign-ins for every practice and competitions, turn in to Head Coach or Asst. Coach that is signed to you They will work with Board and coaches to communicate all information to team members, student body and faculty members.

17 Practice Schedule The head Coach picks a practice day and schedule. Practice may be a Meeting or Live Practice No practice during Spring Break or National Holidays All practices will be held at a location determined by the head Coach and at a time determined by the Head Coach. Athletes should attend one practice per week 50 targets per week

18 Team Commitment Season starts the week of mm/dd/yyyy or at Head Coach s discretion. The season will end mm/dd/yyyy or at Head Coaches discretion A banquet may be held the last weekend of the season, but that is up to the Head Coach and the Club The SCTP State Championship is usually held prior to the SCTP Regional Championship and SCTP National Championship. SCTP State and Regional Championships are usually held 30 days prior to each other. The Regional Championship location is moved from state to state. The SCTP National Championship is usually in late July. SCTP Nationals in Sparta, Illinois

19 Competitive Shooting Team A competitive team may be started with one adult head coach and one athlete. To have a competitive squad the team must have at least three athletes. This would enable them to compete in Skeet and Sporting Clay squad events and well as individuals. If the team has five athletes, then they may compete in Trap as well. Skeet and Sporting Clays field three athletes, while Trap fields 5.

21 Cost and Funding continued Costs are not negotiable. They are what they are, just like every other sport. This is roughly a complete cost for each athlete. Athletes are responsible for their own ammunition and target costs. Each athlete should keep current in each discipline; EVEN IF THEY DO NOT SHOOT IN THAT DISCIPLINE.

23 Bank Account Bank Account Information President, Vice President, Treasurer and State SCTP representative can be on the account. Should have two signatures on each check written. Should have President s approval for any purchase over $ All records will be turned in to team treasurer every quarter Accounts may be opened under the state associations umbrella using the states EIN number. 24 Volunteers Each team will need to have a Volunteer Committee and Volunteer Director Volunteer Committee or Volunteer Director will organize all volunteers for practices, competitions, fund raising, and special events Volunteer ratio is 1:5 volunteer to student ratio at every practice and every competition event Verify and follow up on volunteer paperwork. Every volunteer must pass a yearly background check and get volunteer insurance. Cost is $25.

25 SCTP State, Regional, National Championship Endowment State Championship Endowment: Attendance: $1,500 Main Event: $5,000, $3,000, $2,000 (5-3-2) HOA: (Must shoot: trap, skeet and sporting) Regional Events & Endowment: Two each; Grade School & College. One should be open to the all states. One should be the Regional Championship. Attendance: $3,000 Main Event: HOA: Operating Funds $5,000 All regionals must be approved by SCTP Director of Development. Am National Championship Endowment: Attendance: $3,000 Main event ea. Division/Discipline: HOA: Int. National Championship Endowment: Team Attendance: $2,000 Main event ea. Division/Discipline: 5-3- HOA (Trap, Skeet, Trap Doubles):

27 Athlete Code of Conduct Athletes must sign the four following forms, turn them all in to the Secretary of the Parent Board: Competitive Shooting Team Rules Consent & Waiver (must also send a copy to SCTP Headquarters) Medical Consent Sportsmanship Contract (parent and athlete ) No student is allowed to participate in the program who has been charged or convicted of a felony We expect the highest conduct on and off the field of play and all school rules and procedures are to be followed at all times We expect you to work and maintain good grades. You must maintain at least a 80 or above in all classes Always be on time to all practices and competitions Be responsible and always take care of your equipment Treat all coaches and teachers with respect You alone will be accountable for your actions. So think before you act and understand that your accountable for your choices. It is the Head Coaches final decision for suspension of an athlete, but it will be discussed with the teacher, assistant coach and parent/s. Possession of alcohol, tobacco or drugs will result in immediate and permanent removal from the team. Careless driving or horsing around with a golf cart can also result in an immediate removal from the team.
