4 Charles Darwin University Achievement Award Significant Improvement Zoe Chesworth Dedication to Studies Rachael Staunton Flinders Northern Territory Science Achievement Awards (Indigenous Students) Courtney Huddleston Courtney McCabe Engineers Australia CDU Engineering Encouragement Award Micah Ramsay Outstanding School Based Apprentice Award Harrison Johnson Indigenous Youth Leadership Project Scholarships Nicole Dhurrkay Cylest O Keefe Sydney Taylor-Turley Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation Incentive Awards Hayley King Nicole Dhurrkay Sydney Taylor-Turley Australia Day Council NT Student Citizen Award Bridget Myerscough 2016 Australian Defence Force Youth Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award Jacinta Hicks Kormilda College Philosophy Trophy In Religious Studies and Philosophy Bridget Myerscough has shown a persistent curiosity, insight, intelligence, respect and compassion. She has actively participated in discussions, and has demonstrated great maturity and the ability to think deeply. Top Student Sport Award Sophie Hatzismalis has excelled in all sporting endeavours in which she has taken part throughout her time at Kormilda College. She has represented Kormilda College in Netball and Touch Football, and has shone at College Athletics and Sports Days. Sophie played local A Grade basketball, netball and AFL, and has represented the Territory for the Under 19s Netball National Championships and ANL Territory Storm AFL squad. Charles Darwin University Achievement Award This award is given to those students who demonstrated consistent engagement towards the Sciences in Zoe Chesworth has emerged this year as a confident young woman who has pushed herself to participate in class discussions, deliver presentations and to take part in the Darwin Secondary Schools Debating Competition. Zoe should be congratulated for her outstanding effort. Rachael Staunton has shown one hundred percent commitment to her studies in the first year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and has achieved excellent results across all areas of the curriculum. She is a dedicated and diligent student who is well respected by her teachers and peers alike. 3 Kormilda College

5 Flinders NT Science Achievement Award (Indigenous Students) Flinders University NT gives this award to one student in each year from Year 6 to Year 11. The award recognises the student s abilities, engagement and enthusiasm for Science, and aims to encourage their future endeavours. This Award is given to Indigenous students who demonstrate consistent engagement towards the Sciences. Courtney Huddlestone and Courtney McCabe Engineers Australia CDU Engineering Encouragement Award Micah Ramsay has excelled in the Science fields of Chemistry and Physics and in Higher Level Mathematics this year, consistently receiving high marks across all areas of these subjects. He grasps new concepts quickly and often goes above and beyond what is required. His keen desire to learn will stand him in good stead over the years ahead. Outstanding School Based Apprentice Award Harrison Johnson is in the Vocational Industry Pathways Program at Kormilda. He is employed under the GTNT/NT Government agreement and is hosted by the Department of Land Resource Management. Harrison has almost completed the Certificate II in Business and is currently finalising the arrangements for his Certificate III traineeship for next year. Harrison has worked hard to complete school subjects, vocational studies and employment requirements to the best of his ability. His effort and commitment are to be commended. Indigenous Youth Leadership Project Scholarships The Indigenous Youth Leadership Project supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students living in remote or very remote areas of Australia, providing for them to attend a high performing secondary school to complete Year 12. The IYLP contributes to the development of skills in leadership in a range of ways. Students are supported in their leadership journeys on personal, academic and professional levels. Nicole Dhurrkay, Cylest O Keefe and Sydney Taylor-Turley Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation Incentive Awards Each year the Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation gives encouragement awards to high achieving students in Year 9 through to Year 11 who live in, or are culturally connected to, Indigenous communities in the Arnhem Land area. This year the encouragement awards in Years 10 and 11 are presented to Hayley King, Nicole Dhurrkay and Sydney Taylor-Turley Australia Day Council NT Student Citizen Award Bridget Myerscough exemplifies the College Mission Statement by consistently showing herself to be compassionate, and by always striving for excellence. She is a member of the School Representative Council, where she is always considering the views of the wider College community. She often acts as peacemaker amongst her peer group, and is a stalwart of the Year 10 cohort. Bridget is also employed at Greenies Real Food, and this organisation embodies her values she believes strongly in the rights of all, and sustainability Australian Defence Force Youth Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award Jacinta Hicks consistently demonstrates empathy toward her peers, leading them in a variety of tasks inside and outside the classroom. She has involved herself in fundraising activities, and taken a lead role in the student committee organising the Year 10 formal. Jacinta is a student of integrity, who is guided by her values in all her interactions, both social and academic, at Kormilda College. 4 Kormilda College
