2 New Girls Exhibition Divisions: In Preparation for the new PJW Girls Youth Divisions for 2017/2018 Area 14 is going to provide exhibitions bouts for Girls interested in participating in their own division during the Area 14 Youth Qualifier. We will have 3 divisions 8-U,9-10 and We will wrestle these divisions Madison style and weigh-ins will be the honor system (No weigh in). Please enter weight during registration process. We will match up wrestlers based on who is registered to try and get girls matches. This is exhibition only will not have any advancement to states but will provide awards for top 3 places in each pool. Youth: ELIGIBILITY: All residents from Northampton, Monroe, Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill counties will need to qualify to the State tournament by placing in the top 2 of this tournament. You can compete in this tournament ONLY if you LIVE in these counties. AGE EFFECTIVE DATE: A wrestler's age group classification is determined by his/her age on December 31, EXAMPLE: A wrestler s 11th birthday is 1/1/2017. That wrestler competes in the 9-10 division. FORMAT: Double elimination (with true second) with awards for the top three finishers in each weight class. PLEASE UNDERSTAND----- This is the one and only chance to advance to the State Tournament. You will need to place top 2 at this tournament. We will wrestle for a true second in this tournament. Those who qualify are required to purchase a State Championship Area XIV Singlet. These singlets will be yours to keep after the tournament and the will cost $ CASH ONLY. 3 On behalf of the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Area XIV committee we would like to invite you to what we hope will be the best wrestling experience you have this year. This year s Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Youth Area Championship will be a one day tournament. The top two wrestlers from OUR Qualifier will advance to the State Tournament. Area XIV will now include only full-time residents of Northampton, Monroe, Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill counties. Please understand that this goes by the county you live in REGARDLESS of where you wrestle. Our goal is to bring the quality and professionalism of the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling to the local qualifiers so that everyone can enjoy the PJW experience. The Area XIV committee is making every effort to assure that the Championship series is the gold standard in youth wrestling. This will be a great tournament, and we are looking for great representation from our area. 4 RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Participants may only compete in one sectional tournament, one weight class and one division. 2. There is no weight allowance. 3. A wrestler cannot wrestle outside his/her age group, unless he/she weighs more than the heaviest weight class in his/her age group. 4. PJW, National Federation and PIAA rules will govern all matches except as follows: All U8, 9-10 and bouts in the championship bracket will consist of three periods of All Consolation matches will consist of three periods of Overtime to be ride out (1 st point gets choice) 5. HEADGEAR IS REQUIRED IN ALL PJW TOURNAMENTS 6. Mouth Guards are recommended for participants with braces. 7. 6 RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT & PARTICIPANT CODE OF CONDUCT I,, acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to participate in the Pennsylvania (Entrants full name) Junior Wrestling (PJW) Tournament. I am aware that these activities may be hazardous and that I could be seriously injured. I am voluntarily participating with knowledge of the danger involved, and agree to assume any and all risks of bodily injury, or death, whether those risks are known or unknown. I verify this statement by placing my initials here: Parent or Guardian s initials: As consideration for being permitted by PJW, and any owner, administrator, tournament director, chairperson of the premises holding any of the events, to participate in these activities and use the premises and facilities, I forever release PJW or any Lessor or any PJW affiliated organization, and their respective directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, and representatives (collectively Releasees ) from any and all actions, claims, or demands that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives now have, or may have in the future, for injury, death, or property damage, related to (i) my participation in these activities, (ii) the negligence or other acts, whether directly connected to these activities or not, and however caused, by any Releasee, or(iii) the condition of the premises where these activities occur, whether or not I am then participating in the activities. I also agree that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives will not make a claim against, sue, or attach the property of any Releasee in connection with any of the matters covered by the foregoing release. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and PJW, and the lessors, and sign it of my own free will. When Signed by Parent or Guardian: I recognize the dangers of the activities and the significance of this Release and Waiver were explained to the Participant and that the Participant understood them, or I, as parent of the Participant, understand them. While participating in PJW activities, the Participant will be supervised by. (Coach or Parent s name) I understand the Tournament Director, under the guidance of the PJW rules and administration, may withdraw our son/daughter from any Tournament if he/she is involved in behavior or activity deemed to be detrimental to the health, safety or welfare of other participants, spectators, tournament staff, or tournament sites; or if involved in actions considered to be detrimental to the goals and objectives of PJW or in violation of the PJW Code of Conduct.
