4 High School Graduation Requirements To receive a high school diploma, a student entering Grade 9 in school year and thereafter must complete the following: the Foundation High School Program testing requirements (English I & II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History) demonstrated proficiency professional communication

The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the CTE career clusters listed in the following: Chapter 130, Subchapter O, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (B) a coherent sequence of four credits in computer science selected from: Fundamentals of Computer Science Discrete Mathematics for Comp Science Computer Science I, II, or III Digital Forensics AP Computer Science Mobile App Development IB Computer Science, Standard Level Robotics Programming & Design IB Computer Science, Higher Level Independent Study of Tech Apps
14 Endorsement: STEM Continued Requirements Algebra II, chemistry, physics and: Courses or Credits (can be taken sequentially or concurrently) C) three credits in mathematics by successfully completing Algebra II and TWO additional mathematics courses for which Algebra II is a prerequisite by selecting courses from subsection (e)(2) [the fourth math list]; (D four credits in science by successfully completing chemistry, physics, and TWO additional science courses by selecting courses from subsection (e)(5) [the fourth science list] ; (E) in addition to Algebra II, physics, and chemistry, a coherent sequence of three additional credits from no more than two of the categories or disciplines represented by Subdivisions (A), (B), (C), and (D).
15 Endorsement: Business and Industry Courses or Credits (can be taken sequentially or concurrently) (A) a coherent sequence of four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster including at least one advanced CTE course, which includes any course that is the third or higher course in a sequence. The courses may be selected from Chapter 130 of this title, Chapter 127 of this title, or CTE innovative courses approved by the commissioner. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the CTE career clusters listed in the following: (i) Chapter 130, Subchapter A, Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources; or (ii) Chapter 130, Subchapter B, Architecture and Construction; or (iii) Chapter 130, Subchapter C, Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications); or (iv) Chapter 130, Subchapter D, Business Management and Administration; or (v) Chapter 130, Subchapter F, Finance; or (vi) Chapter 130, Subchapter I, Hospitality and Tourism; or (vii) Chapter 130, Subchapter K, Information Technology; or (viii) Chapter 130, Subchapter M, relating to Manufacturing; or (ix) Chapter 130, Subchapter N, relating to Marketing; or (x) Chapter 130, Subchapter P, relating to Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics; or

17 Endorsement: Public Services Courses or Credits (can be taken sequentially or concurrently) (A) a coherent sequence of four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster including at least one advanced CTE course, which includes any course that is the third or higher course in a sequence. The courses may be selected from Chapter 130 of this title, Chapter 127 of this title, or CTE innovative courses approved by the commissioner. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the CTE career clusters listed in the following: (i) Chapter 130, Subchapter E, Education and Training; or (ii) Chapter 130, Subchapter G, Government and Public Administration; or (iii) Chapter 130, Subchapter H, Health Science (iv) Chapter 130, Subchapter J, Human Services; or (v) Chapter 130, Subchapter L, Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security; or (B) four courses in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).
18 Endorsement: Arts and Humanities Courses (A) a total of five social studies courses from Chapter 113 or Chapter 118 (B) four levels of the same language in a language other than English by selecting courses in accordance with Chapter 114 of this title; or (C) two levels of the same language in a language other than English and two levels of a different language in a language other than English by selecting courses in accordance with Chapter 114 of this title; or (D) four levels of American sign language by selecting courses in accordance with Chapter 114 of this title; or (E) a coherent sequence of four credits by selecting courses in fine arts from one or two categories in Chapter 117 of this title or innovative courses approved by the commissioner. (F) Four English elective credits by selecting from the following: English IV Independent Study in English Literary Genres Creative Writing Research and Technical Writing Humanities AP English Literature and Composition Communication Applications IB Language Studies A1 Higher Level
19 Endorsement: Multidisciplinary Courses or Credits (can be taken sequentially or concurrently) (A) four advanced courses that prepare a student to enter the workforce successfully or postsecondary education without remediation from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas that are not in a coherent sequence; or (B) four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics; or (C) four advanced placement or International Baccalaureate or dual credit courses selected from English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Economics, Languages Other Than English, or Fine Arts.
20 Distinguished Level of Achievement A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: the curriculum requirements for the Foundation High School Program the curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement including a total of four credits in mathematics, including Algebra II and a total of four credits in science
21 Performance Acknowledgements A student may earn a performance acknowledgement: for outstanding performance in a dual credit course in bilingualism and biliteracy on an AP test or IB exam on the PSAT, the ACT-Plan, the SAT or the ACT For earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification of license
22 Course Offerings Local Control Districts (with Board approval and in partnership with an IHE and local business/community members) may offer a course / activity / training / apprenticeship that leads to obtaining an industry recognized credential or certification Annual reporting to TEA required
23 HB 5 (College Prep Courses) Each school district in partnership with at least one IHE is to develop and provide courses in college prep for mathematics and English language arts for 12 th grade students who do not meet the college readiness standards Provided on HS campus (distance learning option) Faculty from HS and IHE collaborate (Commissions of TEA and THECB may adopt rules) Must give notice to eligible students and their parents/guardians Successful completion of the course may be used for the advance ELA/Mathematics curriculum requirement Districts must develop or purchase instructional materials May be dual credit (at discretion of IHE) Must be available in
