It is recommended and I move that the Board approves the motion for Greg Stein to attend the PSBA School Leadership Conference from Tuesday, October 16, through Friday October 19, 2012, at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey, PA at an approximate cost to the District of $1,200. Action: Moved: Second: Aye: Nay: 2. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves the District Test Schedule. Old Business: None at this time. New Business: Third Day Enrollment Poff Elementary currently has 26 first graders in one section. While this is one over the recommended guidelines, it was determined that administration would not require the student to travel to another elementary school. Paraprofessionals are available to assist in the classroom. Charter and Cyber Schools Mr. Shages requested a report on the number of Hampton students at charter and cyber schools. Summer School Update Ms. Heinricher reported the success of the summer school program and provided statistics pertaining to student numbers, financial status of the program, and specifics on the courses offered. The summer program continues to gain popularity and increased enrollment. HTSD Professional Supervision Evaluation Plan Dr. Welter described the three-year process of working with the Professional Development Committee, administrators and other professionals to develop this comprehensive document for evaluation of all professional staff. Using the Charlotte Danielson framework, the plan will coincide with upcoming PDE evaluation protocols since they, too, are designing a plan using the Danielson model. Teachers have all been provided with professional development, completed self-evaluations, and are meeting with principals for individual goal-setting Assessment Results PSSA, PSAT, CTP4, Stanford 10 Drs. Hoover and Welter discussed some of the overall percentage drops in the District s test scores. There could be number of reasons, but the overall performance of the District is still well above the national and state averages. Dr. Welter reminded the Board that the OnHands electronic database is utilized to complete classroom and student item analysis. This assists in determining multiple facets of the teaching process: differentiating instruction, amount of time spent teaching concepts, remedial strategies for small groups of students and changes to curriculum. Data mining is an integral part of the operation of all Hampton schools, and ongoing evaluation is part of the teaching process. Discussion The ESL program was discussed and Drs. Hoover and Welter explained the federal mandates of providing ESL instruction to non-english speaking students. A rise in this population at the beginning of the school year was the impetus for a change in teaching schedules. The Board was concerned about the growth of the new Mandarin program, but administration assured that the rotation classes were not the only avenue for students selecting languages in eighth grade. Advanced Placement Results A discrepancy was discovered in the averages of the overall scores on advanced placement tests. A newly-revised version of this report is included. *Attachment

RESIGNATIONS: 1. It is recommended and I move that the Board accepts the resignation of Mrs. Jennifer Rossi, who is resigning after three years with the District, effective May 10, (Mrs. Rossi was an English Teacher at Hampton Middle School.) 2. It is recommended and I move that the Board accepts the resignation of Ms. Taylor Pastrick, who is resigning after one year with the District, effective August 16, (Ms. Pastrick was a 1-D Paraprofessional for the District.) 3. It is recommended and I move that the Board accepts the resignation of Ms. Kaitlyn Olshefski, who is resigning from her position as Building Substitute at Wyland Elementary School, effective August 15, It is recommended and I move that the Board accepts the resignation of Mrs. Joan Daniel, Class IV Secretary to Wyland Elementary Principal, who is retiring after 18 years with the District, effective November 2, TEACHERS: *The following appointments/salaries for teaching positions are based on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (7/1/07 to 6/30/12), however, once a new agreement is adopted, placement on the salary schedule (steps) will not change, although new rates may apply. 5. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Mr. William Baumann, moving from a Class 1-B Paraprofessional at Hampton High School to a Building Substitute at Hampton Middle School for the school year, effective September 4, Salary is $19,500, pro-rated. 6. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Mr. Zach Simmen, as a Building Substitute at Hampton High School for the school year, effective August 20, Salary is $19,500. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Mr. Jamie Weiland, as a Building Substitute at Hampton High School for the school year, effective August 22, Salary is $19, It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Ms. Alice Morgan, as a Building Substitute at Central Elementary School for the school year, effective August 23, Salary is $19,500, pro-rated. 9. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Ms. Kaitlin (Novak) Daley, as a Building Substitute at Wyland Elementary School for the school year, effective August 27, Salary is $19,500, pro-rated. (Ms. Daley is replacing Ms. Kaitlin Olshefski). 10. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves a change in status for Mr. Michael Thompson, Physical Education Teacher at Wyland Elementary School, from.72 FTE to.75 FTE, effective August 20, PARAPROFESSIONALS/SECRETARIES: 11. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves Ms. Christina Harper, as a substitute secretary/paraprofessional for the District, effective August 22, CUSTODIAN/MAINTENANCE: 12. It is recommended and I move that the Board approves the job description for the Custodian Athletics/Groundskeeper, effective September-10, SUPPLEMENTALS: 13.
