12 Study Block Students are encouraged to be actively involved in 8 courses A maximum of ONE study block may be granted if: a student is enrolled in an extended day course. a student is taking a Distributed Learning (online) course a student is maintaining a heavy academic load Currently, the minimum requirement is 2 science courses Permission from parents and administration required

19 Work Experience This course is designed to prepare students for the transition from school to work or further education and training. Classroom instruction is approximately 20 hours Placement hours are approximately 90 hours Placements may or may not be during school hours Students must be self-motivated and responsible Work experience course placements are unpaid

20 Youth Work in Trades o Students will receive 16 credits on their high school transcripts o 4 credits for every 120 hours of work o YWT 11A & 11B; o YWT 12A & 12B o $1,000 scholarship possible if you continue in trade area for at least six months after graduation

22 Course Selection COURSE SELECTIONS ARE COMPLETED ONLINE o All submissions must be completed before Monday, February 11 on MyEd ( DO THIS ON A COMPUTER, NOT ON A PHONE o o o Course Catalogue is available online Will be going into Planning 10 classes on January 25 to answer any additional questions and hand out application forms Application forms to be returned to counselling

23 Logging in to MYED Student Number MyEd is case sensitive Student$35

24 The first time you login, MyEd will request that you change your password. Enter your current password, enter a new password, and confirm the new password (re-enter the new password). Click OK.

25 The system requires that you enter your address and select a security question

27 Select Requests from the left side menu

28 If you were unable to complete your course selections with the options in the on-line course selection sheet, you can leave a note for the counsellor at the bottom of the page Summer school: if you are planning to take a course in summer school, please include which course you are planning to take in the counsellor memo at the bottom. Online courses: if you are taking or planning to take an online course, please include which course and school in the counsellor memo at the bottom.

29 In order to confirm that you have completed your course selections Click on the POST button in the bottom left of the screen.

30 If you have not completed all areas of the course selection sheet as required a warning message will appear. Read the warning carefully and return to the areas identified to correct any items missed in your course selections. Click on the POST button again once corrections have been made. A GREEN message will appear when course selections have been successfully posted and a date will appear beside the POST button.
