The College and Career Fair is one of the most valuable resources for high school students in providing them with pertinent college and career readiness information. This event features colleges, universities, businesses, career programs and military representatives. They will provide different resources about different opportunities after high school graduation. The opportunity to meet with these organizations is beneficial so our students can make informed decisions about their future post secondary plans. For more information or if you have a business and would like to participate, please contact the Worth County High School Guidance Department at S c h o l a s t i c r e a d i n g i n v e n t o r y ( s r i ) Your child recently completed the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI). This computer-based assessment produces a Lexile (reading level) for your child. This assessment will be repeated before Christmas, and again before summer, in order to measure growth over time. By the time students graduate from high school, they should be reading at a Lexile level of at least To learn more about Lexile measures, visit lexile.com/aboutlexile/lexile-video/. You can also contact Teresa Sumner, School Improvement Coordinator for WCHS, for more information. She selected Josh Miller as her Star Teacher. The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia's highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. Since its creation in 1958 by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) Program has honored nearly 25,500 high school seniors who have in turn chosen their STAR Teachers to share in this recognition. Every accredited high school in Georgia is eligible to participate in this preeminent student/teacher academic recognition. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on any single test date of the three-part SAT taken through the November test date of their senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Nominees' SAT scores must be equal to or higher than the latest available national average on the critical reading, math and writing sections. Each high school STAR Student is asked to name his/her STAR Teacher. High school STAR Students compete for system titles; and system STAR Students in turn compete for region-wide honors in the 12 STAR Regions. Region winners and their STAR Teachers are invited to Atlanta to compete for the state STAR scholarships and awards. RAMs Central Store Have you visited the Rams Central Store?
