1 Welcome to all of the teams who are participating in the Regional OM Competition hosted at GCT on Saturday March 4, Go Eagles! Good Luck to the GCT Archery Team who is competing in state this weekend!!!!!! Volume 394, March 3, 2017 GCT Weekly BEAK Congratulations to the GCT Exchange Club Students of the month pictured below left to right are Adam Hartness, Abbie Stokes, Allison Rowe, and Ryan Baldwin. Allison Rowe was selected as the GCT Winner. This past week was Read Across America Week be sure to check out next week s edition for some great pictures of GCT Activities. GCT Preschool had a great Parent Teacher Conference Session. Thank you to all of those in attendance and to Janet Harris for the photos.

GCT All State Competitors Students from Greene County Tech Senior High School in Paragould were recently selected to the Arkansas All-State Choir.

In Arkansas, this is the highest honor students can earn individually in high school choral music. The All-State Choir is composed of the top high school singers in Arkansas.

2 GCT All State Competitors Students from Greene County Tech Senior High School in Paragould were recently selected to the Arkansas All-State Choir. The students earning a place in the choir were Sara Brown, Anna Shain, Adrien Reynolds, Reece Ruhl, Dean MacDonald, Bailey Morgan, Logan Hisaw, Michael Markum, and Shannon Youngblood. In Arkansas, this is the highest honor students can earn individually in high school choral music. The All-State Choir is composed of the top high school singers in Arkansas. These students participated in the Arkansas All-State Music Convention and Clinic February 15-18, 2017 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The GCT High School Choir is under the direction of Mrs. Beverly Finley. GCT would like to congratulate the students for their hard work and accomplishments.

3 Congratulations to the GCT All State Wind Symphony participants from GCT including Ryan Hartness and Ryan Baldwin. GCT Band Boosters are very proud of all of the GCT Band Students and shared these photos. The students performed at the Hot Springs Convention Center on Saturday, February 18, The second photo of the All State Concert Band with GCT Student, Anna Shain performing as a flute player. Junior High faculty competed in a Quiz Bowl game. Money Makers vs. Horsemen. Ms. Jerome was the moderator and Mr. Carpenter served as the caller and score keeper. There was not an official word on who ended up winning the match. Thank you to Sherri McNamara for the photos and information.

4 GCT FFA held it s 8 th Annual Dinner and Auction on February 18, 2017 and it was very successful. Thank you to all who were in attendance, some of the items that were made by students are pictured along with donations from the community. GCT appreciates the community support and all that is done to support the FFA Program.

This special duck call was made in honor of the late Logan Roswell, a GCT 2016 Graduate. The funds raised will go toward endowing a scholarship in his honor.

Congratulations to the GCT Eagles Swim Team who finished 3 rd in the state for the girls out of 20 teams! GCT had 4 medalist out of the 7 girls who competed.

Shelby Adams placed 4 th in the 500 Freestyle and 4 th in the 100 Backstroke. Our 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Freestyle relay each placed 3 rd.

Excitement was in the air on February 22 nd and 23 rd, 2017 at GCT Middle School.

Students had to plan a product to sell, compile a list of resources needed to make the product, and basically draft a business plan by creating the product,

The relays consisted of Alyssa Reece, Elyse Pindell, Paige Moslander and Shelby Adams. Thank you to GCT Swim Coach, Robin Pindell for the information. Excitement was in the air on February 22 nd and 23 rd, 2017 at GCT Middle School. Students in Tammy Thompson s 6 th and 7 th grade PACE Classes participated in a hands on business expo. Students had to plan a product to sell, compile a list of resources needed to make the product, and basically draft a business plan by creating the product, marketing the product, selling the product to peers and then check to see the profits verses investment costs. The projects were very creative, as students made homemade dog treats, stress balls, jewelry, dream catchers, bath bombs, spin to win games, water bottles and a variety of other projects. Students really enjoyed the learning unit and some groups made quite large profits. GCT hopes to have the next big entrepreneur who will do well in creating their own unique business.

Ethan Mason was the tournament MVP and will participate in the State All Star Tournament at ASU Beebe on Saturday, March 4 th, 2016. Special thanks are extended to Mr. Todd, Mrs. Kerry Combs, Mrs.

9 Jr. High QUIZ BOWL STATE CHAMPS Congratulations to the Jr. High Quiz bowl team who placed 1 st in the state tournament on Saturday! The team was the 4 th seed after morning pool play but went on to defeat Paragould, Morrilton, and Pulaski Academy to bring home the first place trophy. Ethan Mason was the tournament MVP and will participate in the State All Star Tournament at ASU Beebe on Saturday, March 4 th, Special thanks are extended to Mr. Todd, Mrs. Kerry Combs, Mrs. Carol Surber, Ms. Marilyn Jerome, Mr. Ryan Carpenter, Mrs. Teresa Chipman, Mrs. Golden Williams, Mrs. Lennie Hurst, Mrs. Misty Drope, and Mrs. Charity Andrews who helped out by moderating and keeping score during our weeklong Enrichment Quiz bowl tournament the week before! Huge thanks to the student teams who signed up to play and help the Quiz Bowl team practice! Mrs. Housley teaches SPED and FACS at the Eagle Academy and recently applied and was awarded a $ grant for her classroom for books and supplies through the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators Ray of Hope grant program. Great job to Mrs. Housley, who goes above and beyond for her students! Thank you to Mike Nunnally for the information. Lori is a second grade teacher at GCT Elementary School. Brenda serves as both a cashier and a cook in the GCT Child Nutrition Department at GCT Middle School. Brenda is married to Jerry Cooper and they have children, Jerry Cooper Jr., Cassie, Hailey, and Serena. Brenda stated that she is very proud of her son who is a senior who will be graduating in May as he is involved in many activities and organizations at GCT and is scheduled to be an honor graduate. Brenda also stated that she loves working at GCT because, the kids are awesome. In her spare time Brenda enjoys reading, crafting, walking, going on vacations and being outside. Congratulations to the GCT High School students in Mrs. Kiestler s Business classes. The class was ranked number 1 in advisor rankings in region 4, and 2 nd in the student rankings out of 143 teams. GCT also boasts 3 teams in the top 10 of the region.
