13 INDUSTRY CREDENTIAL AND WORKFORCE READINESS/COLLEGE ADMISSIONS TEST Industry credential and workforce readiness: Earn 12 points through a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and achieve a readiness score on Work Keys assessment. (ODE has a list of these career fields.) Highest verifiable score counts College admissions test: ACT/SAT Highest verifiable score counts Administered spring of junior year
14 WHAT IS CONSIDERED A FINE ART? Drama/ Theater Music/ Band Visual Arts- e.g. Art 1, Ceramics
15 EARNING OF CREDIT Full Year Q1 = 20% Q2 = 20% Mid-Term = 10% Q3 = 20% Q4 = 20% Final Exam = 10% Must receive passing grade for 2 of the 3 marks in 2nd semester. Semester Q1 = 40% Q2 = 40% Final = 20% Must receive passing grade for 2 of the 3 marks in semester. *This is also calculated on quality points. Examples are in the registration guide.
16 ALTERNATIVE CREDITS Options for Failing Classes: Summer School 3 credits (maximum) Correspondence 2 credits (maximum) PLATO/LEARNING LAB no limit placement by counselor PLATO - Does offer some courses that are not offered here at CHS. Check out the registration guide for more information and see your guidance counselor if interested.

21 GRADUATING CUM LAUDE Each distinction is set by a student s Unweighted cumulative grade point average (GPA) and by students earning bonus points! How do you earn points? 23 MEDINA CO. CAREER CENTER Like to see students on track for graduation! MCCC does not offer English 9 and 10, Algebra 1, Geometry, World History, American History, Biology, P.E., Health, and Fine Art courses! Make a strong effort to pass these classes so you are a strong candidate to be considered for the MCCC, if that is your goal.
24 COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS (CCP) Dual Enrollment/Distance Learning/College Campus CCP meeting was held on Nov. 1 st, (Required) Check the CCP box in top right corner of registration sheet if you are planning on doing CCP in the school year. However, please fill out schedule as if you aren t a CCP student, we will change after you are accepted. Sign up to take the ACT or SAT as soon as possible if you plan to do CCP next year. Remember your Intent to participate form is due by April 1 st to be eligible to do this program. Must meet college CCP institution requirements in order to participate in program. Guidance website has local CCP institution requirements. CHECK IT OUT!
25 DUAL ENROLLMENT/CCP COURSES Are taught by our teachers! Must have attended our CCP information night and been counseled on CCP. English Composition 1 and 2 United States History to 1877 Beginning Spanish 1 and 2 **Students must apply and be accepted to The University of Akron. Molecular Cell Basis of Life (New) Introduction to Biotechnology (New) **Students must apply and be accepted to Ashland University.
26 OHSAA - OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Eligibility on Semesters All students MUST be enrolled in and earn passing grades in a minimum of five one credit courses (or the equivalent) each and every grading period to have continuing eligibility. EXAMPLE: P.E 1 and 2 are only worth.25 credits. You must keep in mind that if you fail 2 classes or have a study hall and fail 1 course- you will be ineligible for your sport. (If you are in P.E.)
27 PHYSICAL EDUCATION WAIVER Waive P.E? Must complete 2 seasons of a sport, cheerleading and/or band. Once you have completed the 2 seasons you can obtain a P.E. waiver form from your guidance counselor. Signatures from student, parent, athletic director or band director are required. Please mark the box in the upper right corner of the selection sheet if you plan to waive P.E * Keep in mind that Advanced P.E. courses (11 th /12 th grades) will require students to have a B average in P.E. I and II.
28 REMINDERS ACADEMIC LETTER AWARDS- Must earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous academic school year. (ie. All of 9 th grade) OR Based on academic rigor of courses (Chart) Minimum GPA # of Honors/AP/CCP or more *NOTE Academic letter awards ceremony will be held in Fall of the following school year. Senior year Letters will be given by earning a minimum GPA on the chart for 2 of the first 3 grading periods of the current academic school year.
29 PRE-REQUISITES Pre-requisites (PR) are courses that you must take in order to take the next course. Examples: Advanced Ceramics- PR Found. of Art Acad. Algebra 1- PR Pre-Algebra Physical Science - PR - None *Sequence charts in registration guide will help.
30 REGISTRATION INFORMATION *** Notice you have courses already selected for you in the area of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. - Your teachers have selected these courses for you. - If you do not like the placement of these courses you will need to speak with your current teacher in that subject area or see your guidance counselor.
31 REGISTRATION INFORMATION (CONT.) 1. Please refer to the course offerings on the opposite side of the course request worksheet. (also the registration guide) 2. Students will write the course #, course name and # of credits in the chart provided. (Please write clearly.) 3. Students will fill the chart out completely. 4. Students must register for a minimum of credits and provide 4 alternate elective choices. (You should only be selecting your electives.)
32 REGISTRATION INFORMATION (CONT.) 5. Parent/guardian must review and sign the final course request selection worksheet. If possible please provide student cell number. 6. HS counselors will be coming in March to help students online schedule. 7. Course request selection sheets are due back to your Homeroom by: Wednesday, February 14th See your guidance counselor if you have any questions!
33 STUDY HALLS If you would like a study hall all year please write Study Hall under course name in both the 1 st half and 2 nd half of the year. If you would like ½ a year with a study hall please write Study Hall in only one half of the year. Remember that study halls can fall in either semester (if you only sign up for ½ year SH). Also study halls do not have a course number so you will NOT need enter anything in for this while online scheduling.

Advanced 2D Art (formerly drawing and painting) Advanced Ceramics Advanced Placement Art (AP Art with portfolio) Digital Design (formerly digital art and graphic design) Mixed Media 3D (formerly crafts and sculpture) Portfolio Preparation (formerly advanced art) Senior Art only for Seniors must have had Found of Art and one other Art course.
37 Foundations of Art (Required to take before any of the following.) Advanced 2D Advanced Ceramics Digital Design Mixed Media 3D (Any of the courses above may be taken more than once. Student will have some choice in subject matter when the course is repeated.) Portfolio Preparation (This course may be taken both junior and senior year.) AP Art (2D design, 2D drawing, 3D design)
38 ONLINE SCHEDULING HS Counselors will be coming down on March 2nd to help you do online scheduling for next year! Following years you will be expected to schedule on your own.
39 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Concert Band (9 th -12 th ) - EVERYONE WHO WANTS BAND WILL SIGN UP FOR THIS COURSE! Students will then be placed in Wind Ensemble after auditions. Students taking Marching Band or Flag Auxiliary can take a maximum of 7.50 credits. (after school) Course verification forms will be given to students in the spring. (Last chance to make changes to your schedule for next year.)
40 8TH GRADE PARENT REGISTRATION NIGHT (IMPORTANT) 8 th Grade Registration Meeting for Students and Parents is scheduled for Thursday, February 8th at 6:00 pm in the Middle School Cafeteria. (CHANGE!) Please plan to attend!
