1 COMPENSATION PLAN Background: Diboll Independent School District s (the District) pay structure is the key management tool that guides pay actions to help the district acquire proper relationship to the market place, maintains equity among all employees, and achieves district pay increases. Within the pay structure, the District has established two categories of employees: Professional teachers, nurses and librarians All other employees For the professional teachers, nurses and librarians, a scale system is used based on the minimum salary scale published by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In previous years, the District adopted a pay structure for all other employees that involved setting the minimum, midpoint, and maximum rates of pay for each job family and ensuring that appropriate differences between jobs are established for pay equity. The basis for building the pay structure is the midpoint of each pay range. This value represents what different jobs are worth, on the average, to the district. This means that jobs requiring more skill, effort, and responsibility are worth more to the district. On average, they will be paid more than jobs requiring less skill, effort, and responsibility. Recommended Changes: Teachers/Nurses/RN Step raise based on scale plus $500 for all steps except 0-2 and An additional adjustment has been made to these steps. Paraprofessional-Instructional 2% of the midpoint Clerical-Technical 2% of the midpoint Manual Trades 2% of the midpoint Professional Support 2% of the midpoint Administrative 2% of the midpoint 1

17 SUBSTITUTE SALARY SCHEDULE Position Daily Rate Hourly Rate Administrator (7.5) $ $21.33 Daily Sub Certified Teacher (7.5) PK-8 $75.00 $10.00 Long Term Sub Certified Teacher 9-12 $85.00 $11.33 Certified substitute teachers who serve continuously in the same certified core instructional position for 7 days or more, and are certified in the subject area that is being taught, will receive a daily rate equal to the current State Minimum Salary Schedule based on the substitute teacher s state step on service records. Those teaching in TEA shortage areas will receive an additional $50.00 per day. The daily rate will be retroactively paid to the first day of substitute service on the seventh consecutive day.
