10 English English 9 Write in the course next to the English course choice. Honors English 9: A or B in both Semesters of AB Language in 7 th AND 8 th grade 3 or 4 on SBAC ELA 3 on SBAC requires a teacher recommendation 0-3 missing assignments per semester **Consistently score an 8 or better on essays graded on a 10-point rubric

13 SUMMER SCHOOL: ALTA SIERRA INTERMEDIATE (CLOVIS NORTH, CLOVIS WEST & BUCHANAN STUDENTS) 380 W. Teague Avenue, Clovis CA IMPORTANT: Summer School, you are expected to attend. If you choose not to attend, there is no guarantee the class will be available to you during the school year. Summer School Eligibility: 3.0 GPA, first semester, 8 th grade, AND academically impacted schedule next year Impacted Schedules: students who wish to take 2 electives create an impacted schedule (Non-academic electives such as: Art, Ceramics, or Videography do not qualify as an impacted schedule) Mandatory Health Meeting: Information will be mailed home close to the end of the year. If you do not receive information by 06/06/19 contact the Summer School Office (to be posted on district website). Independent Study Orientation: 6/11/19 or 6/12/19 ** STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ORIENTATION Independent Study Summer School Sessions: IMPORTANT: Students may indicate a preference for Session 1 or Session 2; however, preferred sessions are not guaranteed. Session 1: 6/18/19-7/3/19 Session 2: 7/09/19-7/24/19 STRICT ATTENDANCE AND DRESS CODE POLICIES WILL BE ENFORCED

14 Math Write in the course next to the Math course choice. Students are placed in math classes based on teacher recommendation and semester grade. 2 nd semester grade will be checked before confirming student placement for Honors Math 2- placement test given in Adv. Math 8 classes

15 Math Math 1 with Math Tutorial Criteria: Below 70% in Math 8 AND must enroll in Summer Math 8 Academy during summer school (Counselor will contact students meeting these criteria) Math 1: 70% or better in Math 8 Below 70% in Advanced Math 8 Math 2: 70% or better in Advanced Math 8 Honors Math 2: Students in Advanced Math 8 interested in taking Honors Math 2 must take a placement test given in the classroom. (Student will find out placement at Walk-Through Registration)

16 Science Integrated Physical Science (pending college prep approval) Integrated Physical Science is a college preparatory lab-based course that immerses students in the topic areas of Chemistry, Physics, and Earth and Space Sciences. Biology: B or better in Math 8 or Advanced Math 8 AND B or better in Science 8 OR C or better in Honors Science 8 Honors Biology: A in Math 8 or an A or B in Advanced Math 8, AND A in Science 8 or an A or B in Honors Science 8 Honors Chemistry: A or B in Honors Science 8, AND A or B in Advanced Math 8

17 Electives Write the course in the box provided Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year. All students will need to choose 2 Alternate Elective courses. Consider class choices to be FINAL. NO schedule changes will be made unless there is an incorrect placement. IMPORTANT: Class balancing takes place within the first two weeks of the school year. Class schedules MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

19 World Language Spanish and French 3.0 GPA, 1 st semester 8 th grade AND 3 or 4 on 7 th grade ELA SBAC Enrollment based upon space availability More space is available in French 2 years of World Language is required by the CSU/UC system If you don t meet the prerequisites for World Language this year, it is recommended that you take a Fine Art course to fulfill your one year Fine Art requirement for CSU/UC.

22 Academic Interventions Academic Intervention Class - Students may be recommended for any of these intervention classes by their teacher: English Lab: For students who need to need to gain mastery of reading and comprehension skills necessary for successful completion of high school course work. Score of 1 or 2 on 7 th grade SBAC Students who have scored below proficiency on district benchmarks (ical and/or District Performance Tasks) Math 1 Tutorial: Additional math class for students who would benefit from extra math support for Math
