No. Brief Description Confirmation of Minutes of 276 th Meeting of SRC held on th January, Action Taken Report (ATR) on the Minutes of 275 th Meeting held on 01s t 2 nd December, Remarks of SRC Confirmed With reference to processing of pending applications for recognition of standalone programmes the Committee gave general instructions as recorded below. For purposes of self-contained clarification, these will be incorporated in the order in every individual case. (i) Applications for recognition of new units of recognized courses received before notification of the 2014 Regulations were kept frozen because of a Supreme Court directive that all the pending applications shall also be decided in accordance with the new Regulations. (ii) The present case falls in this category. If it were to be processed under the new (2014) Regulations, then, it would be hit by Regulations 3(a) and 8(1) which specifically prohibit applications for stand-alone units. This case was, therefore, held back from consideration in the SRC meeting on Jan, 2014 subject to clarification to be received form NCTE (H.Q). 1

2 (iii) NCTE (H'qrs) have now clarified that such pending applications have to be processed under the new Regulations and the institutions concerned should be persuaded to move to a composite status gradually, preferably by (iv) In accordance with this clarification received from NCTE (H'qrs) (vide minutes of a meeting convened by them on and, reiterated subsequently in their e- mail dt Jan 16, 2015) the SRC now proceeds to process this pending application for further consideration.
