10 Key Terms Credit one credit equals one semester of successfully (D- or higher) completing a course (excluding study hall) Grade Point Average (GPA) the average of all courses a student has taken 4.0 Grade Point Scale Numeric value assigned to alpha grade A = 4.0 C = 2.0 A- = 3.7 C- = 1.7 B+= 3.3 D+ = 1.3 B = 3.0 D = 1.0 B- = 2.7 D- =0.7 C+= st Century Scholars the state's premier college scholarship and preparation program for low-income Hoosier students. Students who fulfill the Scholar Pledge are provided up to four years of paid tuition at an Indiana state college or university. Families must apply before June 30th of their child's 8th grade year.

34 Freshman Course Selection Sheet In addition to these 9 required credits, students must select 5 additional elective credits. *For scheduling purposes, study hall is included in the 5 elective credit count even though a student doesn t earn high school credit for the class.

Student log in (Have student go to office if they do not know login) 5. Choose class registration on the left side 6. Click on pencil and choose course or courses and click okay 7. Must Choose 14 credits and 4 alternates. Once complete submit

40 Select the course(s) that meets your graduation requirement for each subject. You must press okay after each subject screen. If you are enrolling in an all year course, you must select both semesters.

42 Students must select 4 alternates. Alternates are used if there is a conflict with one or more of your top 14 requests.

45 Next Steps NHS: 1. Counselors will meet with each student to discuss future coursework and plans for freshman year. 2. Freshman year counselors will meet with students to create preliminary 6- year plans. (4 years of high school and 2 years postsecondary). Students/Parents: 1. Determine preferred career pathway(s) 2. Work with counselors on schedules (short term / long term) 3. Focus on meeting Graduation Pathways

46 Important Dates March 18 th : The High School Counselors will be meeting with 8 th graders during their science class to discuss 9 th grade scheduling. March 20st/22 nd : The High School Counselors will be meeting with each 8 th grade student individually to review course requests for 9 th grade year. March 20 th : Course requests deadline
