28 STANDARD 1---Vision and Purpose Anderson School District One We have beliefs. We have vision. We have a mission. These are all reflections of our district culture of high expectations for student achievement and are key in the fulfillment of every aspect of Anderson One life. These beliefs, vision, and mission are stakeholder developed as we shape our district strategic plan. They are shared with all stakeholder groups through a variety of media. In your time with us, you will see that our stakeholders are knowledgeable about our plans as a result of participation and practice. In our quest for continuous improvement, it is often demonstrated that when planning for an educational organization, it is best to keep the individual student and their needs at the heart of the planning process.

29 STANDARD 2---Governance and Leadership Anderson School District One Anderson One has leaders who are advocates for the system's vision and improvement efforts. 30 STANDARD 3---Teaching and Learning Anderson One is a leader in the state with test scores. Student achievement and growth is our highest priority. Our focus is on teaching individual students, and it is making a difference. Anderson School District One Curriculum and instruction is based on SC state academic standards. Teachers, students and parents are supported with online resources. Use of instructional technology keeps students engaged at every level. Teacher collaboration is the key to improving instructional practices. School Administrators schedule time for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Anderson One professionals, certified and classified, eagerly participate in a variety of PD offerings. The system provides research-based curriculum and instructional methods that facilitate achievement for all students.

31 STANDARD 4---Documenting and Using Results The district uses a variety of formative and summative assessments. Anderson School District One From teacher created quizzes, activities, and benchmarks, to federally mandated, state designed accountability tests, to internationally accepted trades and college entrance exams, Anderson One uses each for the purpose of advancing student understanding and increasing student achievement. All assessments are a significant part of the district s effort to enhance student performance and academic achievement and advancement. Administrators take the lead in analysis of assessment data, it is up to the classroom teacher to put any plans for improvement into action. Therefore, a thorough understanding and appreciation for assessment is imperative to all educators in Anderson One.

32 STANDARD 5---Resources and Support Systems Anderson One recruits and retains a highly qualified staff dedicated to providing an environment that promotes student achievement. Anderson One is dedicated to providing professional support to all staff to promote and sustain continuous improvement while fostering the learning of each student. Anderson School District One With student achievement as the highest priority, the vast majority of financial resources is allocated to the classroom and providing the most qualified staff possible to promote and enhance the learning of each student. Anderson One provides a highly functioning system that offers a framework of support services which increase the effectiveness of the school environment and provides for the care and safety of each student. Anderson One is highly functional in its implementation of human, material and fiscal resources to develop a quality system that enables students to achieve and exceed expectations in a safe and caring environment.

33 STANDARD 6---Stakeholder Communication and Relationships Anderson School District One Beginning with the election of a seven member Board of Trustees, Anderson School District One assures responsiveness to community expectations and concerns. The leadership of the board reflects the communities (electorate of each trustee) that make up this district and ensure district responsiveness. The district professional leadership ensures the responsiveness of its schools to their community expectations and stakeholder satisfaction. All the areas of Anderson One have the expectation of quality education and continuous improvement of student achievement.

34 STANDARD 7---Commitment to Continuous Improvement Anderson One fully implements a collaborative and ongoing process for improvement that aligns all functions of the system and its schools with the expectations for student academic achievement. 35 Assurance of Quality Anderson School District One The core beliefs of the stakeholders of Anderson One and the expectations of providing a quality education for our students so that they may contribute to their communities and the world would be enough to ensure the district s adherence to AdvancED standards. However, under the direction of a caring and proactive Board of Trustees and through the use of the strategic planning process, Anderson One incorporates the AdvancED standards in every aspect of district and individual school life. Quality leadership leads to quality personnel, who in turn, develop and follow quality processes and practices. With class sizes already among the largest in South Carolina, administrative costs the lowest among eighty six districts, and a per pupil expenditure that is also ranked at the bottom of the state, Anderson One students achieve at or near the top in all measures of academics at all levels and among all demographics. Though the district has gaps among demographic groupings, there is constant effort put forth to close these to the point that Anderson One is noted as a leader in the state in this initiative. Continuous improvement is the norm.
