4 This will be chosen your 9 th grade year!

5 4 year plan requirements Complete your Core (English, Math, SS, Science) classes for EVERY school year Foreign Language- 2 years required of the SAME foreign language Health- You need 1 semester (if you took in JH- do NOT take again) Fine Arts- 1 year (click on the Fine Arts drop down menu) PE or PE substitute- 1 year (click on the PE drop down menu) Do not work faster than your computer 5

6 Step 1: Choose an English from the drop down menu. You will see the level and Pre- AP option. (There is a summer reading assignment for both level and Pre-AP). Example of 4 year plan template

7 Focus today on Year 1. This will help register you for next year s classes. Step 1: Choose an English from the drop down menu. You will see the level and Pre-AP option. (There is a summer reading assignment for both level and Pre-AP). 7

8 Step 2: Choose a Math from the drop down menu. It will guide you to choose the correct math sequence. If you are currently in 8 th grade Pre-Algebra, you will choose from Algebra I level or Algebra I Honors. If you are currently in Algebra I, you will choose from Geometry level or Geometry Pre-AP If you are currently in Geometry, you will choose from Algebra II level or Algebra II Pre-AP.

9 Step 3: Choose a Science from the drop down menu Biology or Pre-AP Biology

10 Step 4: Choose a Social Studies from the drop down menu World Geography level, World Geography Pre-AP, or AP Human Geography (AP Human Geography is a college level course. You need to be doing very well in Pre-AP History this year to take it next year.)

11 Step 5: Choose your Foreign Language Spanish I If you are in Spanish I now you will choose Spanish II or Spanish IIG (Choose G if you plan to go on to Spanish III Pre-AP) If you are in NS Spanish now- you will choose Spanish III Pre-AP. Spanish for Native Speakers (NS Spanish II) German I Chinese I French I ** 2 years of the same foreign language is required. You should start your Foreign Language no later than 10 th grade. Make sure you are still on year 1

12 Step 6: Choose a PE from the drop down menu. This includes Band if you are not in a sport. Only pick a sport if you played it this year competitively. Step 7: Choose a Fine Art from the drop down menu. This includes Band if you are in a sport AND Band Step 8: Choose any remaining elective(s) If you have a double block course (Band or a sport) then your total credits should show 7. If you are not in a double block course, then you will need to have 8 total credits. Step 9: Choose 3 alternates If you choose semester electives, please choose 2 to fill the year. Please remember these can be in your schedule next year, so choose courses you would like to take. At this time, you should have a complete schedule for Year 1 (Freshman year).

13 You are finished today when: 1. All 4 years have English, Math, Science & Social Studies classes entered. 2. Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Health & PE courses are in 4 year plan. 3. You should have your electives filled in for your 9 th grade year only. 4. No other elective courses should be chosen at this time. We will discuss and fill these in later in your 9 th grade year. 5. Fill in your paper course selection sheet to match your choices for next year (year 1). This will be your copy to discuss with your parent/guardian. 6. The next step is the individual meeting with your counselor. We will sit with each of you your 9 th grade year and help you select the classes that best help you meet your goals. This is a TENTATIVE PLAN and a work- in- progress! In the meantime, review the program of studies located on the ORHS counselor webpage for information about the courses offered in CISD.
