5 Division 1 Requirements College-Bound Student-Athletes will be divided up into 3 categories: Qualifier: May receive athletics aid (scholarship), practice and compete their first year in a Division I college or university. Academic Redshirt: May receive athletics aid (scholarship) and may practice (first semester or quarter), but may NOT compete in the first year of enrollment. Nonqualifier: Cannot receive athletics aid (scholarship), cannot practice and cannot compete in first year of enrollment.

6 Qualifier must: Complete 16 core courses from the distribution below 4 yrs English, 3 yrs Math (Alg 1/Math 1),2 yrs Science (1 yr lab) 1 yr extra from first 3 areas, 2 yrs Social Science 4 yrs extra (English, Math, Science, Soc Sci, or Foreign Lang) Ten (10) of the 16 core courses must be completed before the start of the Senior year. Seven (7) of the 10 core courses must be in English, math or science. Have a minimum core-course GPA of 2.3 (GPA of the 16 core courses) from above Grades earned in the 10 required courses required before the 7 th semester (senior year) including 7 in English, math or science, are locked in for purposes of GPA calculation A repeat of one of the locked in courses will not be used to improve the GPA if taken after the beginning of your senior year. Therefore if a course needs to be repeated (poor grade) and you wish to use it to bring up GPA of core courses- it must be done prior to the beginning of the senior year--- the sooner the better. Meet the GPA for Competition sliding scale requirement of GPA and ACT/SAT score (click here to see sliding scale B). Graduate from high school.

9 Early Academic Qualifiers DI If you meet specific criteria after six semesters, you may be deemed an early academic qualifier for Division I Criteria: * Achieve a SAT score of 900 or higher or an ACT sum score of 75 or higher; and * Achieve a core-course grade point average of 3.00 or higher based on completion of 14 core courses after six semesters. The 14 core shall include 3 courses in English, 2 courses in Mathematics, 2 courses in natural or physical science, 2 additional years of English, math or science; and 5 additional courses in any NCAA core area

17 Division II D II Partial Qualifier means: Can practice with your team at its home facility during your first year of full-time enrollment; Can receive an athletics scholarship during your first year of full-time enrollments; Cannot compete during your first year of college; and Can play four seasons in your sport if you maintain your academic eligibility from year to year.

18 Early Academic Qualifiers DII If you meet specific criteria after six semesters, you may be deemed an early academic qualifier for Division II Criteria: * Achieve a SAT score of 820 or higher or an ACT sum score of 68 or higher; and * Achieve a core-course grade point average of 2.50 or higher based on completion of 14 core courses after six semesters. 30 NEW SAT and NCAA NCAA will NOT be mixing and matching the best scores (in Math and Reading) from the OLD test (prior to March 2016) and the NEW test (March 2016 and beyond). SAT scores on the charts seen today are based on the OLD SAT (prior to March 2016). All Scores after January of 2016 must be converted using the College Board Concordance Table

35 Freshman Eligibility Requirements Meet two of the three following requirements- 1. Achieve a minimum of 18 on the ACT or 860 Old SAT(prior to 3/16)/ 940 on the New SAT 2. Achieve a minimum overall GPA of Graduate in the top half of your high school class.

36 Early Decisions for high school Seniors Students who have completed their junior year of high school and have at least a 3.0 GPA and the minimum test scores required (18 ACT or 860 Old SAT/940 New SAT) may obtain an eligibility determination before graduating from high school. Need to register and request that their official transcripts be sent after their junior year. If not previously sent, contact ACT or SAT to have test scores to be sent.
