4 Scheduling for Junior/Senior Year Scheduling will begin Spring 2019 (February/March) Sophomores and Juniors will Schedule during their English class. Impact Students All interested students should watch for applications materials and apply on time Student selections will be based on academic standing, attendance, discipline, and timely submission of materials (some programs will also require an interview) Second-year students MUST re-apply and be in good standing in order to return Contact counselor for follow-up questions.

10 Juniors & Seniors Juniors and Seniors have 2 college visits. Recommend doing a large Campus Visit Day as a Junior and a more personal one as a Senior. Forms in Guidance Office, completed a week before visit. Visit online, social media, virtual tours, and attend college fairs. Meet with college representatives during Homeroom Period! List of colleges coming to AHS available online!

11 Universities look for involvement beyond academics! A WELL-ROUNDED STUDENT MIGHT HAVE: VOLUNTEERED IN THE COMMUNITY BEEN INVOLVED IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Been involved in non-school activities HAD A JOB Universities want to see ongoing commitment to, growth in, and leadership experience in several extracurricular activities over time.

12 Start to develop an Activity Resume keep track of extracurricular activities, community service, employment, etc. Sophomores and Juniors can begin to look for scholarship opportunities now Look at published senior list to get an idea for future Sign up for services such as FastWeb.com or scholarships.com CAUTION: If a scholarship sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!

15 Community College- Associate Degree/Certification Trade School- Cosmetology, Journeyman, Welding, CNC, Dog Grooming, Dental Asst., CNA, etc. Apprenticeships- Industrial, Building Trades, and other programs offered at community colleges or on-the-job training. Military: Meet with a recruiter at lunch time. Sign up to take the ASVAB. Employment - think about those individuals who could/would be good references

16 If you want to participate in Division I or II athletics in college, you must first register and be certified by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association)or with NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). It is recommended that student athletes register with the NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center during their junior year in high school. Students must be cleared by the Eligibility Center before they can receive an athletic scholarship or compete in a sport.
