10 Classifications of Accreditation Level One Youth Sponsor recreational youth activities. Must meet all requirements for accreditation and be in compliance with the departmental Background Check Program. Level Two Adult Sponsor adult activities only and do not sponsor youth activities. Must meet all requirements. Level Three Other Sponsor youth or adult activities and do not meet ALL of the core requirements for accreditation. Must be in compliance with the departmental policies. Has the lowest priority for facility use.
11 Accreditation & Permits Do s and Don ts DO submit permits request on time. A request is not a permit. Permits will be ed when approved. DO NOT request more facilities or time than your organization needs DO make an appointment with the scheduling office if you may require more space and/or time. DO NOT sublease your space and/or time to another organization, camp, business or individual. DO submit re-accreditation documents to request the addition of a sport to your organization. This will be evaluated by an assessment of community need. DO make your payments for facilities use and participation fees on time. DO submit annual accreditation information to include updates contacts and COI.

15 Joint Use Agreement Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks has a joint use agreement with the Board of Education allowing the use of school facilities by accredited organizations. All activities, other than school activities held after regular school hours, weekends, holidays or the summer break, are to be scheduled by the Department of Recreation and Parks. Use of AACPS fields and facilities is by permit only; grass and indoor by Facilities Scheduling and turf fields by athletics.
16 Event Monitor Guidelines The Department of Recreation and Parks (DRP), in cooperation with Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), requires all permitted organizations using AACPS facilities to designate a volunteer as an Event Monitor. This representative will be stationed at the main, front door during the user group s indoor permitted times. Failure to comply may result in the loss of permit(s).
17 Guidelines & Reference Manual The manual serves as an overall guide for: Board of Education and Department of Recreation & Parks facility users and organizations seeking accreditation. Participants in youth/adult organized sports programs. Organizations sponsoring youth/adult recreational and athletic programs Individuals seeking coach s certification. The manual is available online - updates are in progress
18 Your Special Events Please let the Rec & Parks Scheduling and Marketing office know about your event. Prevents scheduling conflicts. 21 Recreation & Parks Events When a DRP event or tournament conflicts with your use of facilities we work to provide you with plenty of notice. We are always looking for volunteers if you have kids, Coaches or parents that would like to volunteer. The Lifeline100 Century Ride has openings for enthusiastic volunteers for start/finish and rest stops. This annual event is October 1st in 2017.

24 Ron Blake Awards Five Ron Blake Award winners will be chosen from Volunteer Award nominations received throughout the year. These individuals and groups will be chosen from: Recreation, Sports, Parks, Community and Youth. Community Organization of the Year Recognizes the dedication and commitment of a community organization for their unwavering efforts and dedication to the Department of Recreation and Parks. Youth of the Year Recognizes an outstanding young volunteer who has shown that you are never too young to make a difference in your community. Director s Citation Award Recognizes the efforts of one hardworking individual who stands out as an example of exceptional dedication to the Department of Recreation and Parks.

26 Chesapeake Bayhawks Tix July 20 will be Rec & Parks night at the Chesapeake Bayhawks game vs. Florida Launch at USNA Stadium. Complimentary tickets are available for Rec & Parks athletic organizations. Wear Rec & Parks or team gear to the game! See us after the meeting to get tickets.

29 Turf Field Use Fees: Accreditation IN SEASON OUT OF Level SEASON Level 1 (Youth) $25 per hour $50 per hour Level 2 (Adult) $50 per hour $75 per hour Level 3 (Other) $50 per hour $75 per hour Determination as to whether a sport is in or out of season will be made by Recreation & Parks in accordance with the current Department offerings.
30 Concussion Awareness/ Sudden Cardiac Arrest In compliance with the Maryland Youth Concussion Legislation Signed into Law by Governor Martin O'Malley on May 19, 2011, each youth organization within Anne Arundel County is required to complete and keep on file the Concussion Awareness Form for ALL participants. NEW on this form is the section on Sudden Cardiac Arrest. This form should be retained by the organization and be available to Recreation & Parks upon request.
31 Background Check Program The purpose of the Department of Recreation & Parks Background Check Program is to ensure that every individual who interacts with children undergoes a criminal history records check. The objective of the Background Check Program is to provide parents with peace of mind knowing their children are provided a safe and positive experience. Background checks apply to head coaches, assistant coaches, board members. For a complete list please go to the Background Check Section of the Guidelines and Reference Manual. Complete the form and mail it along with the fee of $7.00 payable by cash, check or money order to Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. Or submit information and pay with a credit card at Anne Arundel Recreation & Parks Volunteer Pinkerton screening online application.
32 Coaches Clinics The Coaches Certification Clinics are offered three times a year, typically held in March, August and December. All youth head coaches in County-sponsored leagues are required to attend a Coaches Certification Clinic prior to beginning their second year of coaching. A coach s certification is valid for three years, after which time the coach must be re-certified. If a coach DOES NOT re-certify prior to their expiration date of their current certification they may lose that certification and will become ineligible to be a head coach. Anyone else wishing to attend a coaches clinic other than the head coach is welcome.
33 Coach Associations Changes (Proposed) In order to be recognized as a member of a Coach s Association or a Board Member a volunteer must meet the following criteria: Criteria For Member of the Coaches Association Must be a member of an Accredited Organization; Organization must have teams participating in Rec & Parks leagues; Individual must be a current commissioner or designated alternate; Individual must meet all Recreation & Parks requirement to coach; Criteria For Board Member Must be a member of an Accredited Organization; Organization must have teams participating in Rec & Parks leagues; Individual must be a current commissioner; Individual must meet all Recreation & Parks requirement to coach; Must be committed to sharing your time and talents to help make the sport great.
34 Coach Associations Changes (Proposed) Work as an extension of the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks and its staff to improve the quality of Youth Sports in our County. Operates under the auspices of the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks and will be required to following the Departments Guidelines and Procedures as well as all rules and regulations. The Board of Directors will consist of no less than Six (6) members as follows: Association President appointed by the Department of Recreation & Parks Five (5) additional Board members which will be elected/voted on by the Sports Commissioners. One of the five members can be an at large member. (does not have to be part of an accredited organization or a commissioner) Organizations can only have one representative on the Board of Directors. If less than five individuals are elected/voted to be on the Board of Directors, the Department will then appoint the remaining members.

36 Camps and Clinics on Recreation & Parks and/or Board of Education Property All camps and clinics being held on Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks and/or Anne Arundel County Board of Education property must be coordinated through the Department of Recreation and Parks. This includes any individual, corporation or entity who directly or indirectly receives monetary compensation for providing services for the operation of a camp or clinic. There are currently two approved ways to operate a sports camp/clinic on public (AACPS/AACRP) property. Must be approved/operated by AACPS Must be offered/operated through AACRP This does not affect any camp or clinic sponsored by an accredited organization with the sole benefit of fundraising and no financial obligation to a third party. This also precludes any: specialty training, speaker fees or individual coaching paid by the non-profit organization for the exclusive benefit of a team(s) within that organization at no additional cost to members or registration requirements. specialty training will be defined as coaching or training a specific position, skill set or discipline within that sport. Examples would include quarterbacks, goalies, pitching, shooting, punting, passing, speed, strength, endurance and stretching.

45 New Maryland Recycling Law Applies to any special event that uses a public facility or park; serves food and drink; and is expected to have 200 or more in attendance. Organizer must provide a recycling receptacle immediately adjacent to each trash receptacle; and ensure all materials deposited are collected for recycling. Violations are subject to a penalty of $300 for each day on which the violation exists.
46 Integrated Pest Management Established in 2013 Goal is to provide a safe and healthy recreational environment while balancing costs and benefits with human health and environmental quality IPM Program Objective Minimize the amount of toxicity of pesticides Eliminate unnecessary applications Utilize only licensed, certified and register spray technicians Reduce or eliminate exposure of children, vulnerable adults, nursing mothers with infants and pets Provide public and staff notification
47 Integrated Pest Management Pesticide Applications & Notification Wind conditions less than 10 mph to prevent spray drifting After normal school hours or summer dismissal for park/school conjoined properties Sign posting at all staffed parks, community parks and athletic fields at least 24 hours in advance Allowing a 2 week application window in addition to a rescheduling option 48 hour posted warning signage and closure of playground areas following application Warning/closure of vehicular access to areas of community parks during applications
