3 JUNIOR HIGH PRE-REGISTRATION All 4 junior highs were visited this week. 8th graders will enter their electives into the computer at your junior high in the coming days with the assistance of the junior high counselors. In addition, there are cards that require student and parent signatures you ll receive during these junior high visits. All signed cards must be complete and turned in to your junior high counselors by and Skyward online registration must be completed no later than THURSDAY, MARCH 10 th.

4 Foundation High School Program Requirement Summary The Foundation High School Program with an Endorsement STEM 4 or more credits in CTE (from select courses relating to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics per TEA) or 4 credits in computer science and/or computer programming or 5 credits in math including Algebra II and 2 additional advanced math classes for which Alg II is a prerequisite English 4 LOTE (Foreign Language) - 2 Math 3 PE - 1 Science 3 Fine Arts - 1 Social Studies 3 / 4 Electives 5 Endorsement Requirement Summary In addition to the credits listed above, all students must specify an endorsement they intend to earn upon entering 9 th grade. Every endorsement will have additional requirements specific to that area of study. The FOUNDATION courses listed above are found in all endorsements. With the additional requirements added from the selected endorsement, a student must earn a total of 26 credits. Business and Industry Public Services 4 or more credits in CTE 4 or more credits in CTE (from select courses (from select courses relating to Agriculture, relating to Education Food, and Natural and Training, Law, Resources, Public Safety, Architecture and Corrections, & Security, Construction, Finance, Human Services, Arts, Audio/Video Health Science or Technology & Government and Public Communications, Administration per Business Management TEA) & Administration, Hospitality & Tourism, or Information Technology, 4 courses in JROTC Manufacturing, Marketing, or Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics per TEA) Arts and Humanities 4 social studies courses or 4 credits in a language other than English (4 of one language or 2 different languages with 2 credits in each) or 4 credits in fine arts Meet curriculum requirements of the Foundation High School Program An additional credit in Math specific to that endorsement An additional credit in Science specific to that endorsement Multidisciplinary Studies 4 advanced courses from within one or more endorsement areas or 4 credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics or 4 AP or dual credit courses or 5 credits in science including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and 2 additional advanced sciences per TEA or 4 English elective credits (advanced broadcast journalism or newspaper or public speaking or debate)

Recommendation of the teacher required for math & science courses Application Process for AP Human Geography will occur later in the spring PAP / AP Contract signatures required

16 Distinguished Level of Achievement To earn distinguished level AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE TOP 10% AUTOMATIC ACCEPTANCE INTO A UNIVERSITY / COLLEGE: Complete the Foundation (FHSP) Complete at least one Endorsement including 4 credits in science & 4 credits in math including Algebra II

17 Mandatory Flex Class A student entering the ninth grade who failed more than one core class during his or her eighth grade year shall be required to enroll in a flex period class assigned by the principal or designee. Those students will also be placed in an academic intervention class as one of their electives for the entire 9 th grade year.

18 STAAR EOC Assessments Incoming 9 th grade students graduating under the Foundation & Endorsement plan will take 5 EOC tests. ELA - English I, English II Math - Algebra I Science - Biology Social Studies - U.S. History

Select Endorsement, 7 classes, 2 alternates You must complete online registration by Thursday, March 10 th Your junior high will have a set deadline for the return of all signed paperwork. You must turn in signed PAP / AP Contract along with your schedule request card if taking any of those courses
