5 To assist students with their course choices, it is suggested that students and parents: Identify the student s abilities, interests, and aptitudes by reflecting on past performance, results of standardized tests or other assessments and subjects he/she enjoys. Review the graduation course requirements and the recommended course sequence. Meet with the counselor to devise/revise his or her four year course plan.

8 College Preparatory (no designation listed) College Preparatory level courses are designed to meet the needs of collegebound students. Expectations for achievement are maintained at a challenging level.

9 Honors (H) Honors level courses require a greater level of independent learning. Expectations for student achievement are maintained at a level to challenge the most academically able students.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses designated Advanced Placement follow the specific curriculum guidelines of the College Board s Advanced Placement Program.

10 Advanced Placement (AP) Courses designated Advanced Placement follow the specific curriculum guidelines of the College Board s Advanced Placement Program. Advanced Placement courses are college level studies. Students are encouraged to take the College Board s AP Exam at the end of these courses, which may result in earning college credit.

11 International Baccalaureate (IB) Courses designated International Baccalaureate follow the specific guidelines of the IB curriculum. Students must be accepted into the IB program in order to enroll in the IB Diploma courses. However, students may enroll in select IB electives which are available to all students.

12 GPA Only the 5 major academic areas (including electives) are calculated in GPA. GPA is only calculated at the end of the year with the final summative grade in each course.

31 Penn State and Harriton Dual Enrollment Courses Penn State Brandywine A Campus of the Pennsylvania State University Two Business Courses offered every semester Intro to Business BA 100 (3 PSU credits and 0.5 HHS credit) Application process each Spring These are General Studies courses that are appropriate for any major.
