1 Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation Regular Board Meeting Monday November 14, 2016 Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School Library EXECUTIVE SESSION: Agenda: Jac-Cen-Del Elementary Innovation Room at 6:00 p.m. 9. To discuss a job performance evaluation of individual employees. Steve Wilhoit, Secretary Business Session: Travis Neal, board president, announced those who wished to participate, please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. The following summarizes the agenda for the Regular Board Meeting. I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Board President, Travis Neal. Board members present were Stephen Huntington, Steve Wilhoit, James Westerman and Lori Pilz. Also present were the Superintendent, Treasurer, staff and patrons. If there are any additions or changes to the agenda, please announce them at this time. Action Item E was removed. Informational Items, Elementary Principal Report and High School Principal Report were added. II. Recognition A. On October 21, The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department gave a presentation to the Jac-Cen-Del Elementary Kindergarten, 2 nd and 4 th grade classes on Fire Prevention. The firemen displayed their emergency vehicles and the equipment they use for all to see. Jac-Cen-Del would like to thank them for everything they do for the community and for taking the time to make this educational presentation to the students. Mr. Taylor commended everyone involved for a job well done with the Veteran s Day programs at the High School and Elementary.

2 III. Action Items A. It was recommended that the board approve the minutes of the October 17, 2016 regular and executive meeting. B. It was recommended that payroll and other claims for November 2016 be approved as presented. C. It was recommended that the board approve the Administration and Central Office Staff Compensation and Benefit Package as presented. D. It was recommended that the board approve the lateral move of third shift custodian Ronnie Moorman to the first shift custodian position at Jac-Cen-Del Elementary. F. It was recommended that the board approve Tilda Fruchtnicht be moved from Cook to Cook Assistant at the JCD Elementary. G. It was recommended that the board approve Deidre Merz as Elementary Cook Assistant. H. It was recommended that the board approve maternity leave for April Hughes.

3 I. It was recommended that the board approve Ann Bunnell and Gail Mosier to provide after school remediation. J. It was recommended that the board approve Jake Todd as the 8 th Grade Boys Basketball coach along with his previously approved position as Boys Freshman/Varsity Assistant Coach for the season. He would receive the coaching stipend for the 8 th Grade position along with half of the Freshman/Varsity Assistant coach stipend per the Master Contract. Second: Steve Wilhoit K. It was recommended that the board approve Curtis Mitchel as the Elementary Archery coach. L. It was recommended that the board that approve High School library out of circulation books be made available to the public at no cost from 5:00-6:30 P.M. on December 6, M. It was recommended that the board approve the , school calendar as presented. N. It was recommended that the board approve the Driver s Education fees of $ per student for the , school year. This price has been consistent for the past five or six years. IV. Discussion Items A. NEOLA Policies-Volume 28-No. 2 First Reading-Mr. Taylor has reviewed the attached new policies and policy revisions and is requesting board input prior to adoption at the December meeting as presented.

4 V. Information Items ELEMENTARY: Mr. Travis Rohrig, Elementary Principal shared with the board that the Girls on the Run completed a community service project of collecting almost $900 for the Ripley County Humane Society and they also recently completed a 5K run on November 12th. He thanked the parents, coaches, and kids for their hard work and commitment. Mr. Rohrig congratulated Kristen McIntosh for recently becoming engaged. Mrs. Fox, Ms. Bonnlander and Miss McIntosh s 3 rd grade class assisted her fiancé in giving her a surprise proposal. The Osgood Lions Club donated dictionaries to all third grade students through the Linda Project. This project is named in honor of the late Linda Walke, bus driver at Jac-Cen-Del. Mr. Rohrig thanked the Lions Club for their outreach to the elementary students through this program. The Elementary Veterans Day program was a huge success again this year and had one of the largest attendances so far. A big thank you and job well done goes out to the Veterans Day committee, and to Mr. Unklesbay, and Mr. Taylor for their part in the Veterans Day program. Mr. Rohrig noted that second graders are excited about the Trucker Buddy program and their Trucker Buddy John Lovins. John and the students have met once already and will meet and communicate with him throughout the school year. The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department put on a presentation for grade K-2 and 4. The students enjoyed meeting the firemen and learning about fire safety. Mr. Rohrig closed his presentation with comments about future school events and wishing Mr. Gary Deburger a happy retirement. HIGH SCHOOL: Mr. Daryl Werner, High School Principal congratulated Shianna Bellingham on a great season in Girls Cross Country. She was the first girl ever to compete at the Semi-State Level and she set a new school record for Girls Cross Country at Jac-Cen-Del. Congrats Shianna on a great season. During Red Ribbon Week the Ripley County Drug Awareness Coalition and Jac-Cen-Del welcomed quest speaker Michael DeLeon, founder of the Steered Straight Program. Steered Straight s program provides a message on life choices to children and adults of all ages. Congratulations to the Drama Club on their fall production Forest of the Dead. Mr. Werner commended everyone involved for a job well done. Congratulations to Jacob Dodge who received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program stating that he was in the top 2% Nationally. Congratulations to Jacob also for being a finalist for the Ripley County Lilly Foundation Scholarship. Mr. Werner commended everyone involved for such a great Veteran s Day program. He also commended the band and choir for their excellent performance during the program. High School Upcoming Events: First Quarter Straight A Breakfast, Tuesday November 15 th at 8:00 a.m. Mattress Sale Fundraiser, Saturday November 19 th at 3:00 7:00 p.m. Girls State Championship Ring Presentation, November 26 th at 7:30 p.m. Eagle Merit Award Breakfast, December 7 th at 8:00 a.m. Christmas Concert & Art show December 14 th at 6:30 p.m.

Elementary Playground Update: JCD is waiting on a plan from Playworld with details on repairing the rubber surface sometime in the spring. C. Drug Policy Update: Mr. Taylor is continuing to review other area drug policies. D. HVAC Update: The RFP for Design Criteria Developer has been sent to the firms. Proposals are due November 23, 2016 and interviews are to be held on December 1, E. Health Insurance Open Enrollment for staff is from November 4-November 21 st VI. Additional Items A.
