9 GPA Students should begin thinking about their GPA as soon as they start high school. Reinforce at home that every grade counts and could be the difference between an A and a B or passing and failing. Advanced and Gifted classes are given additional 5 points in the weighted GPA, and AP and Dual Enrollment classes are given an additional 10 points in the weighted GPA. However, the raw score before the additional points will appear on the transcript.

NOTE: Students should carefully review college entrance requirements to determine appropriate levels of course selections. Although courses may meet Georgia Department of Education requirements, they may not meet all college admission requirements. Students should refer to specific college catalogs or websites for academic entrance requirements.

28 Registration Process Important things to note Spanish/French I and II (to take both in same year, must register for both now) Chorus & Band (typically taken fall and spring = 2 classes) JROTC (can be taken both semesters in 9 th grade year) CEC classes and transportation Alternates - must be classes students are willing to take and different from other classes selected on registration sheet No changes 8 classes total with 2 alternates; registering for entire year Course descriptions can be found here.

29 Additional Details Health and Personal Fitness is only one unit despite having two numbers. Other than Health/PF, a course with two course numbers counts as two courses of the 8 students will take. Driver s Ed is not available to 9 th graders even if they are/will be 15 this year.
