4 SCHOOL ACTIVITIES (A) CELEBRATION OF 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI Army Public School Gwalior celebrated 150 th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in the school campus on October 08, Army Public School Gwalior has been on the forefront to spread the Gandhian thoughts and principles of truth and nonviolence. On this occasion, the school organized various activities suggested by the CBSE. The activities are as follows Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya campaign to realize the goal of clean India. Shramdan was done by NCC cadets to spread awareness amongst the children regarding cleanliness. A special morning assembly was conducted wherein the students and teachers took Swachhta Shapath to keep their surroundings clean and spread the importance of hygiene and sanitation. Two students delivered lecture on Gandhiji s life and work with special reference to his ideals of non-violence and communal harmony in today s context. Gandhiji s favorite hymn Raghupati Raghav Rajaram was sung by the school choir. A power point presentation was shown to the students to encourage them to follow Mahatma Gandhi s thoughts, principles, values and ideals of patriotism, sacrifice, nonviolence, simplicity and truth. The school has planned to conduct various other activities throughout the coming months to inculcate the habit of cleanliness amongst the students. 4

5 (B) CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION BY AAKASH INSTITUTE A career counselling session was conducted on October 08, 2018 by Mr Vikas Sharma and Mr Ganesh Kumar Jha of Aakash Institute, Gwalior. The X standard students attended the session wherein they were informed about the various courses and career options after class X and XII. (C) WORKSHOP ON WRONG TOUCH AND RIGHT TOUCH In today's times, we hear a lot about child abuse and molestation. Children below the age of 9 are the softest targets. Keeping the objective in mind, the primary wing organised a workshop on "Wrong Touch and Right Touch" on October 8 & 9, The students were educated about the following things: Children were educated about their private parts. Children were made to understand the difference between Right Touch and Wrong Touch. They were taught what to do if they ever face a situation like this. If someone touches you in a way that you don't like, say a firm "NO" and Run from there and Shout. Immediately call for help, talk to a trustworthy person like mother, father, grandparents or class teacher. Not to be scared of that person and feel bad about yourself. Call

6 (D) CAREER COUNSELLING BY MS JASWINDER KAUR On October 09, 2018 Ms Jaswinder Kaur of Vikrant College visited the school to provide career counselling to XI and XII class students. She interacted with students and shared with them some personality development tips. She also suggested them many career options wherein they can make their future. During this interaction many questions were asked by the students related to their future studies. The counsellor satisfied the students by giving answers to their queries. All the students took a lot of interest in this session. (E) CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION A career counselling session was conducted on October 12, 2018 by Mr Anoop Tripathi of Amity University, Gwalior. Class XII standard students attended the session. The resource person informed them about the career courses at Amity University Gwalior. The information was given using videos and study materials. Later, a small Quiz was organised for students wherein the winners were acknowledged with a data storage device. 6

7 (F) CELEBRATION OF WORLD FOOD DAY The children of APS Gwalior celebrated World Food Day on October 16, 2018 along with the children of Mother Theresa Orphanage with lots of enthusiasm. During the activity, donations received from students and staff at school were handed over to the orphanage in-charges. The children at the orphanage enjoyed the company of APS students. The music teachers Mr Yogesh Sharma and Mr Shiv Kumar under the guidance of Mrs Poonam Dubey, Activity Coordinator performed music for the children over there. Lunch was also served to them. Later, donations were also made for blind girls at Atma Jyoti Kendra Gwalior. 7

8 (G) FOOT POLICING (RALLY) NCC Cadets of Army Public School Gwalior organized a Rally on Foot Policing from school campus to 6 No. Square Morar on October 25, (H) SWACHHTA ABHIYAN The NCC Cadets of Army Public School Gwalior visited Mohanpur Village for cleaning the village as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Mission on October 26, (I) AUTUMN BREAK The School was closed on account of Autumn Break wef October 17 27, Extra classes for Class X, XI & XII were organised wef October 22 27, 2018 during the Autumn Break. 8

9 (J) CELEBRATION OF RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organised in the school on October 31, The following activities were conducted in the school. Prabhat Pheri by the students of classes IX and X. Run for Unity by the students of Classes XI and XII. A special morning assembly was organized wherein the students took the Unity Pledge and the teacher Mrs Saroj Devgan delivered a speech on the life and works of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A write-up on the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the National Unity was circulated amongst the students. 9

10 (K) Special Assembly On October 31, 2018 a special assembly was organised by class ll B and ll C under the guidance of their class teachers, namely Mrs Nisha Devi and Mrs Karuna shivhare. The theme "Precautions to be taken during Diwali festival " was presented in the form of a small skit in the assembly. Later, a pledge was conducted for all students wherein they took the resolution of saying No to crackers this Diwali. 10
