16 English as a Second Language Services English as a Second Language (ESL) Services are available at each high school. High School teachers, counselors, and administrators work in cooperation with middle staff to ensure a smooth transition of services from MS to HS. 17 Gifted Services There are many opportunities for gifted students to take challenging courses at the high school level. Gifted students are encouraged to pursue Honors, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate classes and College Credit Plus. Each High School has a Gifted Facilitator who will work with students on placement. 21 Science Options Three Core Options as a Freshman Honors Biology (I & II) Biology (I & II) Physical Science (I & II) 2 semester courses learning by doing cover topics at a much greater speed and depth expected to know processes and apply knowledge beyond just conceptual understanding or 2 semester courses learning by doing study all levels of life from smaller than cells to large populations One or the other prepares students for the state Biology assessment 2 semester courses learning by doing introduction/review of chemistry, matter, motion, forces, measurement, graphing, some astronomy Can be taken before taking Biology
22 Career Pathways Want an opportunity to explore your interests and possibly earn an industry credential? Consider experiencing a career pathway! Pathways are flexible, provide hands-on learning experiences, and include college credit opportunities. Even for students who do not plan to pursue an explored pathway after high school, the pathway provides opportunities to develop highly transferable skills in collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, which are relevant for any coursework or career. 23 Career Pathways Business Logistics Logistics is the science of managing the movement of objects food, materials, animals, equipment and liquids as well as time, information, and energy. Fits students with an interest in science and technology as well as a passion for problem solving. Opportunities to solve real world problems that businesses face every day. Discover how you can help businesses save money, boost productivity, and so much more.
24 Career Pathways Engineering Apply engineering, science, math, and technology (STEM) to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. Problem solve to develop skills in project management and review, technical representation and 3-D design, and statistical analysis and mathematical modeling.
25 Career Pathways Health Investigate the roles of biomedical professionals as they study the concepts of human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health. Students examine the structures and interactions of human body systems and explore the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, all while working collaboratively to understand and design solutions to the most pressing health challenges of today and the future.
26 Advanced Placement (AP) AP classes given students a rigorous college-level class in a supportive high school environment. Students have the opportunity to take an AP exam at the end of the course which may lead college credit, and/or placement into advanced courses in college.
