2 Our mission, in collaboration with unique partnerships, is to provide a rigorous academic curriculum along with enriching and individualized opportunities empowering every student to compete in an ever-changing world. PREPARING FOR COLLEGE GISD ensures that students are ready for university, community college, technical school, or the military when they graduate. GHS offers numerous post-secondary opportunities, including transferable college credits. By the time students leave GHS, they can earn enough college credits for an associate s degree. Our post-graduate success can be attributed to our high level of education that can be seen in our test scores compared to state and regional levels. Students have been accepted all over the country including Big 12 schools, Division I universities throughout the nation, and military service academies. 98% GISD has a 98% graduation rate, clearly outperforming the regional average of 87.6% and state average of 87.7%.

3 Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members, What a great time to be a Granbury Pirate! Over the past two years, we have been working hard to plan the future of GISD. With our G2020 strategic plan now in place, the successful passage of our bond issue and the advanced curriculum we continue to expand, students in GISD have more opportunities than ever before to have a well-rounded and world-class education that prepares them for life. As we transform our facilities and build a robust technology infrastructure, we look forward to the expanded curriculum and program opportunities to offer GISD students for many years to come. We also will continue building positive partnerships with local businesses and community groups that are taking an interest in our students, our schools, and recognizing the role they can have in the many positive things going on in our school district. I would urge everyone in Granbury to get involved with our schools, attend ballgames, concerts, theater productions and many other activities that showcase the tremendous talent we have in GISD. Superintendent Dr. James M. Largent GHS Ranks in Top 10% of Nation s High Schools Granbury High School is one of the top high schools in the state, according to a new report from U.S. News & World Report. Only 300 Texas schools made the rankings, and GHS received silver medal recognition based on demographics, participation and performance on college readiness tests (SAT/ACT), the number of students taking Advanced Placement and dual credit courses, and other criteria. The ranking also puts GHS in the top 10% of high schools in the nation. Affinity f1 Heads to Abu Dhabi Affinity F1, the Formula One in Schools team from Granbury High School, placed second at the national competition on May 16-17, 2014, at the Michigan International Speedway. The students will be one of two teams representing the United States in the world finals, which will be held November at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. This marks the second straight year for GHS to qualify for the international contest. At nationals, the GHS squad also won Best Team Identity, honoring the group for things such as uniforms, professionalism, and sportsmanship. The team members are students in career and technical education classes: Chloe Scroggins, project manager; Ian McMasters, manufacturing engineer; Christina Hager, resource manager; Tyler Johnson, graphic designer; and Hayden Coppenbarger and Tommy Wallace, design engineers. 6 Granbury Independent School District 600 W. Pearl Street Granbury, Texas Granbury ISD BOND UPDATE Thanks to district voters in the November 2013 bond election, Granbury ISD will receive transformations to Granbury High School, enhancements to career and technical education and fine arts programs, a new technology infrastructure for model classrooms, improvements to campus security and many other upgrades. Construction for security vestibules at eight campuses, which will require visitors to report to the campus office and present identification before being granted access to the main part of the school, are under construction this summer. Follow progress of the 2013 bond program at GISD school board trustees provide the leadership for the bond initiative and the district s strategic plan while ensuring that school finances are spent wisely on behalf of local taxpayers.
