4 Coaches Jenni Darlow: Grew up in northwest Houston, in Cy-fair ISD, and played soccer at a very competitive level (division one select team, travel team, HS varsity all 4 years). Started playing lacrosse at UT & graduated from UT with a BA in math and a BS in kinesiology. Played all 4 years. Moved to Durango, CO in 2008 where I taught math and coached at Durango HS. Assistant cross country coach and head girls lacrosse coach for the first 6 years of the program. Prior to 2008 there was no girls lacrosse in Durango, so the girls playing all started from square one. Grew the program from 17 girls 1 st year, 28 in the second year, 32 in the third and close to 40 the following three seasons. In 2012, when the majority of the initial team were seniors, we went undefeated in league play and advanced to the playoffs. Several girls from the DHS team are currently playing D2 or D3 lacrosse in college. Played at D-wing when I first started playing and then transitioned to defense Certified to teach high school math and currently teaching Pre-AP Algebra and Pre-AP Geometry at Canyon Ridge Middle School as well as tutoring Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and Calculus for students at Anderson HS. 5 Coaches cont. Rachel Walter An Austin native, Rachel started playing lacrosse in the seventh grade, for the Westlake Middle School club lacrosse program. Played 4 varsity seasons at Westlake High School, and gained three years of traveling and tournament experience with the Texas Play Hard Outlaws. Became a Longhorn at the University of Texas, and joined the UT women s club lacrosse team for her freshman, junior, and senior years. Graduated in May, 2014, with a degree in Studio Art, and is currently working as a painter and a private art teacher for children. Coach for last year s Youth Blue team and currently Vipers High School Assistant Coach Board and Coaches Intro cont. 5

Christine Hong Began playing lacrosse in Chicago, IL at St. Ignatius College Prep in Continued to play in college for the University of Texas- Austin where she was named a 2010 WDIA Academic All- American player. Played overseas in 2012 at the University College London and in the Prague Cup Lacrosse tournament in Prague, Czech Republic in Attended the University of Texas- Austin for both her undergraduate and graduate degree. Graduated in May 2015 with her Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Currently works for Leander ISD and is the speech-language pathologist at Westside Elementary. She is joining the Lady Vipers Youth Lacrosse program as a coach for her second season. Board and Coaches Intro cont. 6

8 Organizational Structure of Girls Lacrosse US Lacrosse National Governing Body of Lacrosse All players and coaches must be a member insurance Phone: (410) Membership Services: #102 Call Center Hours: Mon. - Thu., 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sat., 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. TX Girls HS Lacrosse League (TGHSLL) State governing organization, i.e. League, rules, set schedule, coaches are member CAPLAX for youth Central Texas Women s LAX Officiating Org (CTWLOO) Officiating organization that referees our games Vandegrift Lacrosse Booster Club John Randolph President 501(c)(3) Umbrella organization over both Boy s and Girl s Lacrosse clubs Lady (Both HS & Youth/MS) Separate operating entity of 501(c)(3) Booster Club Not a UIL sport-self funding; LISD Club Recognized Sport abide by UIL guidelines Can attend other schools outside of VHS school zone but 85% must be LISD students Access to LISD fields Website: Organizational Structure 8
9 Season Outline Middle/Youth School Program Spring Season only; February May Goal is 3 teams: Red A 7 th /8 th Red B 7 th /8 th OR Purple 5 th -8 th (Depends on League # s and skill set) Blue 5 th /6 th Registration is First Come-First Serve. Teams will be capped at 54 then wait-listed. Fundamental Skills Development -passing, throwing, cradling, etc Teaching rules of the game Winning is secondary Practice times: 2/14-3/6; Sunday s, 1:00-3:00, Lower FPMS Field After Spring Break: 3/22-5/12, T/TH, 6:00-7:30, Lower FPMS Field Game Dates: Sat/Sun April 2 nd May 8th CAPLAX Post Season Tournament: May 14th-15th Season Outline 9
10 Registration Process Registration Fees- not UIL sport so all of our support comes from tax deductible donations, corporate sponsors, fundraisers and player dues Fees cover: field rental, coaches salaries, officials, league and tournament dues, supplies, uniforms, etc. Registration is $450 for Spring season check, cash or credit card/paypal $25 for US Lacrosse registration (mandatory for registration) Uniform Deposit -$50 check for uniform. Will be held and returned when all pieces of uniform are returned in good condition. Compression shorts need at least 1-black Sports bra 1-black racer back Equipment Stick, goggles, mouth guard, cleats, running shoes, water bottle ALL equipment MUST be brought to ALL practices To purchase equipment visit Longstreth, Dicks, Lacrosse Unlimited, etc. Registration Process 10
