4 SCHOOL SPORT INTRASCHOOL AND INTERSCHOOL PROGRAM 2018 School Sport NT is re-establishing a weekly school sport program during school time. The goal is to provide a strong foundation for students to build a full and active life. Hubs of schools will compete in an inter-school sport competition for years 5-6 with intra-school sport for years 3-6 happening within the school. Administration, organisational and financial support will be provided to each school/hub. 8 Government Schools will begin the program in Term 1, Aims: Ensure an increase in the participation rate of young people in physical activity Raise young people s level of physical competency Year Group Year 3 and 4 Year 5 and 6 Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Skill Development Modified Games Skill Focus Games Skill Development Modified Games Skill Focus Games Skill Development Modified Games Skill Focus Games Skill Development Modified Games Skill Focus Games Celebration of the Sport. 5 Schools involved in the program Group One Durack Moulden Park Primary School Gray Driver Group Two Bakewell Woodroffe Rosebery Forrest Parade Primary School Non-Government schools are not included in the pilot program. Schools will begin the program in Term 1, The pilot program runs in conjunction with the PARRS School Sport NT Calendar. Schools in the pilot will participate in 4 weeks of skill development in their chosen sport and then attend the Interschool Sport Day on the 5 th week. From these, students may be identified to attend the trial selection afternoons as per the current pathway program. The non-government primary schools who are not involved in the pilot, will still come together with the pilot schools for the primary interschool sports days to provide the opportunity to continue the School Sport NT pathway. These interschool sports days will be run with the support of the PARRS School Sport Office and State Sporting Organization.
6 PARRS REGION SCHOOL SPORT NT PRIMARY INTERSCHOOL SPORTS School Sport NT has changed the way Interschool Sport will be implemented within the PARRS Region in 2018 This change will give schools and their students a better INTERSCHOOL SPORT experience. Schools have been divided into HUBS and will be invited to attend Interschool Sport Days as per below. Number of teams from each school will be capped. 10 SCHOOL SPORT NT EVENT CALENDAR & PARRS REGION SELECTION TRIALS 2018 The minimum age for all 12yrs & under participants is 10 years i.e. born no later than The maximum age for all 12yrs & under participants is 12 years i.e. born no earlier than NT has an age dispensation at the School Sport Australia Level. This dispensation is 50% of the team, minus one, in these sports. Eg a team with 12 players may only take 5 players through dispensation. Students who are turning 13 in the year of competition - i.e. born in 2005, fall into this category of dispensation. 11 SCHOOL SPORT NT 15 YEARS AND UNDER DEVELOPMENT/SELECTION CAMPS These events are for students 13 years and older (as per below for each sport) who are interested in possible selection into the School Sport NT team to participate at School Sport Australia Championships. Nomination forms are available from the School Sport NT website. All development/selection camps are conducted in Darwin and are self-nominating. The minimum age for all 15yrs & under Development/Selection Camps is 13 years i.e. born no later than 2006 The maximum age for most 15yrs & under Development/Selection Camps is 15 years i.e. born no earlier than 2003 The maximum age varies depending on the sport. See nomination application forms i.e. netball & cricket NT has an age dispensation at the School Sport Australia level and 50% of players in these sports may be turning 16 in the year of competition - i.e. born in NO AGE DISPENSATION FOR AUSTRALIAN FOOLL or RUGBY LEAGUE.
