Engineering Academy Counselor - Mr. Fenstermaker

EAIA Academy Things of note: Industry Fundamentals is required before a student takes any Metals or Construction courses. On the advisement sheet Construction and Metals are listed as scheduling only courses. Mr. Fenstermaker will adjust those classes to the level that fits the student. Ex. Metals Scheduling Only I will be changed to Welding I or II, etc. Please do not sign a student up for Basic Maintenance, Maintenance II, and Maintenance III in the same year. This is three semesters worth of classes and only the first two can be taken. This is the same for Architectural Drawing and the Engineering pathways.

Fine Arts Academy Counselor Ms. Wallace

FA Academy Things of note: Visual Arts Comprehensive I is required before a student can take any other art course. All band classes beyond concert band are audition only classes. Journalism, Newspaper, and Yearbook are application only classes. Audio/Film pathway is proposed for next year. The steering committee has to approve.

Government and Public Service Academy Counselor Ms. Carter

GPSA Academy Things of note: NJROTC is a year long course. Make sure you select the appropriate two courses Cannot take three foreign language courses in the same year. Ex. Spanish I-III Spanish III is only offered in the fall. Teaching as a profession is a new pathway proposed for next year. Must be approved by the steering committee.

Health and Environmental Science Academy Counselor Ms. Walker

HESA Academy Things of note: Basic Agriculture is a prerequisite for nine pathways. Sports medicine is the third class in the Sports Medicine pathway. Students can not take this course unless they have completed Intro to Healthcare and Essentials of Healthcare. Patient Care Fundamentals is a WBL class. An application must be submitted and approved before a student can take this course. Pharmacy Operation and Fundamentals is a new third level course that requires students to take the Intro and the Essentials of Healthcare classes as pre-requisites.

Foreign Language Requirements For USG Colleges COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSES THAT SATISFY THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE/COMPUTER SCIENCE REQUIREMENT Programming Pathway Computer Science Principles 1 st FL Programming, Games, Apps, and Society 2 nd FL Computer Science Pathway Computer Science Principles 1 st FL AP Computer Science Principles 1 st FL AP Computer Science 2 nd FL There is NO guarantee that these computer science courses will satisfy any other state requirement for foreign language except for Georgia. Students must take and receive a 90+ on the exam(s) to receive credit for their native language. These exams must be administered before the student is enrolled in a their native foreign language. Students will need to check with the college of their choice as to whether or not they will accept the test out credits. Mr. Fenstermaker administers the exams. See him for questions.
